When using D&D Beyond's item homebrewing system I noticed that when adding a feat to say, a weapon, the feat does not show up on the character sheet. Regardless if the equipped character is attuned to the item/has to attune to the item.
So let's say I homebrew a weapon, "Polearm Master's Glaive". When making this weapon on D&D Beyond I'll add this feat to the weapon. So the item should grant the user the Polearm Master feat.
Why does it not show on the character sheet automatically? If it does not show, why use the system of adding the feat to the weapon? I could more easily write in the description, "This weapon grants you the use the Polearm Master feat, you can now add it to your character sheet". If I misunderstood, please explain of course! Thanks in advance for clarifying.
The system, despite seemingly giving the option, cannot actually grant a specific feat. The closest option is one that lets them choose a feat - but nothing will add a specific feat. The homebrewing system let's you make the choice and stuff to do so, but it won't work.
The best option is, where possible, replicate the feat's modifiers and stuff into your homebrew item and then just include a text in description to not take the feat a second time.
This will probably never be changed unless they redo how items and feats are homebrewed.
