Unable to edit others' DND Homebrews, I would like to use theirs as a template and take things that I think are too OP or maybe buff to my liking depending on my campaign. This would be a better change in my opinion. If you are scared of someone uploading others' content, make it so that others are allowed to edit, but not reupload. It'd be easier and faster rather than going in and making my own copying everything switching from tab to tab.
It's kinda weird. I thought well "why can't you simply copy the homebrew and edit that basis." And I went to the tools to check. I don't have an extensive adopted homebrew collection, mostly private stuff. But to explore the one area of homebrew I'm fairly adept at, homebrew races, I was a little puzzled that when creating a new homebrew race in addition to published races I own, I could use any of my homebrewed races as a basis, but not the two races I've adopted. Kinda curious why that is.
I know that if I was to publish any of my private homebrew (which I mostly can't because they are almost all third party imports) I wouldn't be able to edit them. I wonder if I'd also lose the option to use them as basis for new creations too.

No, you will still be able to use them as templates if you publish them. However, published or not, we cannot use homebrews as templates for subraces or variants, and as you’ve noticed we cannot use other people’s homebrews as templates. We can also not use homebrewed subclasses as templates at all either.

I agree. We can use our own homebrew as a template, why not homebrew in our collection?
It would make public homebrew actually worth browsing.

Is there a reason for that (barred from using adopted homebrew as a template)?
