I realy love the idea of the changelog and having an easy findable place to see the development updates that have been done to DDB.
However it has now been 3 weeks (jan 30th) since the last update on it while before we were getting weekly updates. This can mean 3 things
they stopped updating it
they have nothing to anounce
If it is option 2 atleast a post about why they doon't have anything to anounce would be nice. (e.g no new things this week because X is taking longer than expected. but we are working on x,y and z)
this would realy help improve the transparicy cause right now it seems like development has been fully halted.
I'll be honest I'm just happy they changed the log to be more useful/actually a log. Even though it looks like they've been there longer those notes only became so detailed in the past few months at least from a user perspective. Staff probably could see a version of it on their accounts a while before it went live.
Development looking like it's moving is more of a breath of fresh air around here. The site seems to have lost a lot of transparency through each company takeover/merger of the site which is a shame so I was quite happy to see the new change log.
I'll give them some benefit of the doubt with the recent community outrage (probably some staff included in that outrage) that things may have paused for a bit. I do hope to see the changelog continue to give us some insight to what's going on.
Hey ya'll! I'm glad you're finding the new changelog format helpful. Sometimes we wait so that we can bundle meaningful updates together. Fear not, the changelog and Party Wizard are here for the long haul.
Good to hear it's something that will keep getting updates. :)
I was realy liking the weekly roundups, no matter how insignificant.
Previous changelogs were the anouncment of consolidated feats, the release of a book and even small compendium changes. some of those are more meaningfull than others :p.
We aspire to the weekly cadence, sometimes work weeks just run wild. I’m interested in your thoughts, sounds like you prefer more detail rather than just calling out the bigger items?
i would like to know when updates happen, even the smaller things indeed. but mostly i would also like to know if progress is being made on something even it is not yet release ready.
i'm assuming you guys are working Scrum based so a small round-up of the sprint reviews would be nice.
I hear you, alas, the changelog will probably never reach that level of detail for a couple of reasons :
1. I fear it would be a LOT of bullet points and would risk drowning the signal in the noise
2. A discerning reader would be able to extrapolate things we aren’t ready to announce
3. Sometimes we are just experimenting with ideas and don’t want those to set expectations
4. Etc..
I do agree that we could announce more updates on in-progress initiatives. You mentioned Scrum, so you may be more technically inclined and the desire to see under the hood makes sense! The best way to see that level of detail is to come join us as an dev and attend the sprint demos. ☺️
Regardless, I’ll ponder on this and see if we can strike a good balance.
but some news on how things in progress (e.g. work for tasha's) would still be nice. Even if it was: "this is taking way longer then expected".
unless you guys are looking for a functionall analyst and are ok with me working remotely from Belgium or suplement my move i won't be able to join you guys. :p
I see there was a change in the version number for the character builder but no mention of what changed in the change log?
Also, why was the version number removed from the encounter builder?
1. Character sheet version gets incremented even when we fix behind-the-scenes bugs, or improve performance issues that don't otherwise change your experience, hence, you'll sometimes see versions bumps that don't get called out in the changelog.
Are we ever going to recieve new features or this site is just maintenance only now?
Absolutely yes to new features! Stay tuned.
Thank you for the answer, would you be able to confirm if there is any plan for a (at least read-only) API for character sheet and dice log at some point?

How to get your dice to look like the ones in my profile picture and a full site dark mode.

I agree putting out everything wouldn't work.

There has been a mention of a changelog. But i'm unable to find it. Could someone help please ? :)

2. Don't rightly know.

Hi MovePoint. The answer I gave here still stands for now: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/d-d-beyond-feedback/148262-can-i-use-the-api-for-free

Thanks for the direction, however you wrote: "We do not have a public API..."
My question was: Do you have any plans for one in the future in any form?
Yes MovePoint, I understood your question. I don't have anything else to say on that topic right now.
