It is known that there have already been several occurrences of these arcane projections called streams. As you examine the portents you see a pattern and predict that the next such stream is likely to occur on Wednesday the 23rd of May at 1pm PST. As you ponder this, you hear a faint clik-clak clik-clak and turn to see that a moderator has arrived, to ensure this information is available to all.
Hail and Well Met Travelers!
BadEye will be hosting the next Developer Stream on Wednesdaythe 23rd of May. This stream will provide further updates from the D&D Beyond team and allow you to have your questions answered. Get all the latest info about what has been happening and participate in the stream. There may even be some goodies to giveaway!
Please post questions you would like answered in the thread below. We will be collating these, and BadEye will do his best to answer as many questions from the forums as well as Twitch Chat.
Did you miss out on the April developer stream? Watch below!
Keeping it short - are any of the following on your roadmap?
- Starring and sorting creations/characters - Locations section of notes - Add items to different bags (Bag of Holding vs backpack) - Weapon damage die and type in "Add Equipment" - Do you have any advice for those who don't want to get lost in the woods?
Will you ever do a Homebrew Spotlight type of thing? My ego is intimately connected to how many adds and updoots I get on my homebrew and currently, it's deflated.
Why won't Hartless reply to my love letters? I've sent him about 2,172...
How do you feel about medium centaurs?
Can I be a moderator? Please?
Are bunny rabbits evil? Have you ever dissected one to find out?
What is love?
Do you have an estimation of the date when D&D Beyond will hit 1,000,000 accounts? How many of these do you think are legitimate accounts? How many do you think are multiples of the same person?
When will Amazon buy out WotC so that we no longer have to put up with Hasbro's BS and can finally get a live action D&D series with Todd Kenreck as the voice of the Dungeon Master narrating the story and so D&D Beyond can just finally stop having to tell people that it's not owned by the creator of D&D?
How was your prime rib?
Are Hero Points going to be an option to replace Inspiration in the Character Sheet Revamp?
You've mentioned toggles before for a whitelist or blacklist. Will this ever be for individual homebrew and could it please by OFF by default? I hate having my character builder full of COPY_of unfinished homebrew and homebrew that I'm still working on because content sharing shares EVERYTHING*. *Except monsters.
Why aren't homebrew monsters shared with content sharing? I really want to be able to show monsters to my players, especially when they're NPC's that I've either custom-built or want them to control in combat, like is required in Curse of Strahd, Storm King's Thunder, Out of the Abyss, Tomb of Annihilation, etc.
And lastly, when will all the broken links, anchors, lack of tooltipped monsters, spelling errors, errors of grammar and badly formatted paragraphs be fixed in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes?

"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
Was wondering if there was an update to campaign members and how the limit of players vs limit of characters might be changed/switched. It would be extremely useful and benificial that the campaign limits would be for capping players instead of created characters. This was mentioned briefly in a couple streams back but i don’t think was brought up again and as a DM that has had a few close calls lately on a TPK and runs multiple long-standing campaigns, it’d be nice to know the team’s plans for campaign management of characters and players.
Thanks for all the crew’s hard work at dndbeyond and i’m stoked for the updated character sheet, everything i’ve seen gets me more excited!

I would only ask... Can we PLEASE get an offline PC desktop version? Many of us use laptops to DM games, and we don't always have WiFi. DMing from a phone or tablet is not always (aka almost never) useful, especially at a con.
Thanks.

You don't OWN your books on DDB: WotC can change them any time. What do you think will happen when OneD&D comes out?
Anticipatingthe character sheet revamp so hard (like everyone) but PDF exports are my jam (pencils man!) and I'd really love to hear from you that we're going to make them as awesome as I'm hoping.
- Will brief descriptions for class/subclass features be generated? This would be most important for limited use features, but nice as well for situational features. For instance, Fighting Style has situational benefits and remembering what extra bonuses you've baked into your attack/dmg rolls will be extremely helpful for those of use who don't use the digital sheet at the table. - These should also be prioritized per class if possible so things like Divine Sense float to the top and things like Hit Points (the current sheet literally just lists the title "Hit Points" in that section) and Ability Score Improvement should not be shown at all. - Tickboxes for limited use features (rages, wild shapes, channel divinity) like the digital revamp has. These would look great combined at the top of the features/traits box, with shorthand/brief reminders of the affected abilities. - Similarly — boxes to record any pools such as Lay on Hands. - Just like the digital version, shorthand/symbols could be used as well to denote SR/LR recharge and other common feature attributes. Would save space in those briefs. - Most of the racial features currently listed should not be there at all, and senses like Darkvision should move to Other Proficiencies area. - While we're at it, let's take the Personal Characteristics and put them on the back. Keeping track of roleplay notes are super important, but that's not information you need when you're swimming in modifiers and d20 rolls. - Let's make sure we always leave a few blank spots in the inventory for players to add to each session. I imagine those like us who use the PDF exports are happy to print a new sheet each session, but being always able to add things in pencil would be nice. - Hey, while we're at it, lets leave a spot in the currency section to cross out the printed number and write a new total.
- OK, so here's my pie-in-the-sky wish. Per-class modular/customizable layouts.
- This could start more simply as a per-class layout, designed to most efficiently use the space for things that class needs. - Add spellcasting attack + DC to the front for spellcasters (and spell slot tickboxes too). Many of us don't need the full spellcasting sheet and putting these core stats and tickboxes up front would be amazing.
- Finally, how about some (limited) beta testing for the character sheet revamp? Some of us work in software and are particularly good at finding and cataloging issues and potential improvements. You'd have a lot of extra (free) triage and even some initial UAT.
How mobile-friendly will the revamped character sheet be? Has responsive design been a high priority? I believe in a previous stream it had been stated that the revamp was developed desktop-first rather than mobile-first. For players who constantly forget their materials it's nice to be able to have them just pull up their sheets on their phones...hoping that's still feasible future state (without compromising functionality).

Are spell cards coming as part of the character sheet revamp and export?
Yeah, export and print cards would be amazing!
- Spell cards - Magic item cards - Monster cards? That'd be a cool way to hold stat blocks, but might be tough to fit all the different attacks on some.
2.5 x 3.5 for the spells and magic items, 4x6 (index card) for monsters?
Can you please address how the mobile version of the character sheet will work? I don't believe anything has been shown and the UI looks very desktop-centric. My players (and I imagine many others) are all mobile at the table - no PCs.
The pre-order content for Xanathar's is a limited time exclusion. With the inclusion of Mordekainen's when will the previously timed exclusive content go public?
There are some features I'd like to see implemented, and wondering if they are on the roadmap and if there's any idea of an ETA:
The ability to limit what content is shared when we turn on sharing in a campaign. This is the one thing keeping me from buying more content here, since I don't want all content to be automatically shared with the group. So far I've only bought the books that have player content that I know will be allowed in my current campaigns. It'd be nice to be able to enable/disable individual books of content when turning on sharing, per campaign. I think this has already been discussed, but I don't know if it's being planned or not.
A DM dashboard for in-session reference. This could be the ultimate DM "screen." I'm imagining a single-pane-of-glass with small blocks of all PCs in a campaign with their essential stats (updated in real-time as the players do things like take damage/healing), a quick search box for looking things up from the compendium, and the usually needed stuff you would have on a DM screen, chat box to whisper to specific players. I've tried this with multiple browser windows set to auto-refresh and it's not a great experience. If you want to be really ambitious, you could allow people to customize what info is displayed, so everyone can have their own custom DM screen layout.
Chat directly from the campaign. It'd be great if there was a way to easily start/maintain a conversation with the whole group (or individuals) directly from a campaign. I'm using PMs to chat with my players in my campaigns about things like scheduling the next session and whatever else. It was kind of a pain to copy/paste everyone's usernames into the start of a new group conversation. Not a big deal, but would seem like an obvious feature, and to my knowledge it doesn't exist.

Would you consider bumping the number of free character slots from six to a more rounded ten?
For the Character Sheet Revamp, is the ability to print it out in the new fancy, cool, awesome look part of the revamp?
