I have a warlock character in mind, but the patron he’s bound to I can’t find it in PHB, Tasha’s or Xanathar’s. I’ve even googled, not in ravenloft or sword coast. So is there a way to homebrew a patron? I doubt under monsters, or spells, character?
It's been a while since I tried, but my recollection is that there were limited tools for homebrew Invocations or Pacts, but the patron is really just a Warlock Subclass, and those can be homebrewed for the most part.
Homebrewing a whole new subclass may not be necessary, Is there some reason one of the existing patron types isn't appropriate for the one you have in mind?
Well here’s a post I put on Reddit, maybe this will help.
I’m obviously trying to set up a warlock character through D&D Beyond, but I can’t find a patron I have in mind. I’ve also looked through the three books, PHB, Tasha’s and Xanathar’s, can’t find it.
So the character is tricked into service, by an ethereal spider queen. She works with the Fates maintaining the threads of destiny for everyone. Since she doesn’t come to this realm she influences him by talking through ordinary spiders. With this in mind though I can’t see which ones from the books applies. So copying and pasting….
5e Player’s Handbook The Fiend The Archfey The Great Old One
Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide The Undying
Xanathar’s Guide to Everything The Hexblade The Celestial
Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything The Fathomless The Genie
Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft The Undead
Which one of these applies, and how do I get Beyond to work with it? So far it’s only giving me the option of the Fiend, yeah probably have to fork some schecles over. But if I don’t know which one specifically it’s a bit difficult right?

It could be one of several. By theme, Archfey, Undead, Celestial, and GOO could fit. (And hexblade is so vague that you can always make it fit.) The question is much more how the powers granted to the character manifest in play.

Fiend is the only one in the free basic rules. All the others, you'd have to be in a campaign with content sharing on and somebody who owns it. (Or, of course, buy the book it's in yourself.)
For homebrewing a patron, you can always do it from scratch, but if you want to start from one of the extant subclasses, you need to own it yourself.
Well, take the Artificer as an example. I bought PHB and find, nothing at all about it. Huh. Ok, bought Tasha’s, oh it has the Artificer…..but not the subclass I was looking for. Hmmm… fine, bought Xanathar’s ok it has it, good. Spent $150 on all that but I was able to get what I was looking for.
So now my new character through beyond only has the fiend, fine I’ll buy the additional digital, silly since I already have the physical books but whatever. Now, which one? So if I found the that the patron was in say Tasha’s, then that’s what I’ll do. But right now it doesn’t look like it’s any of these choices.
Yes, a “patron” is what they call subclasses for Warlocks. You can homebrew a subclass. But honestly, your spider queen could be an archery, fiend,, or a hexblade patron. Any of those could fit.

All generalizations are false.

i guess I’ll just do home brew.
