Is there any way you can give someone else in your Campaign DM access? I know everyone can see everyone else's character sheets, but I think only the DM can add things and notes and such to other player's sheets.
This is also something that I would be interested in seeing. I have a Co-DM which assists me with my 8 person group, it would be nice to let them use their account to access information.
Was this ever enabled? Also looking to use this feature! Having a second person acting as a sort of co-DM in a clerical format while you are playing would be very helpful!
I'd like to bubble this back up... right now we are working on a project with at least 3 people managing the campaign in some way. I guess we would need to make a single shared account?
Hm good to know. So I guess we need to prioritize a way to have multiple DMs/managers be able to manage the campaign together. Basically separate the concept of a campaign from a single account.
This is also very relative to my interests. I have a campaign starting soon that I'll have a co-DM helping me - surely this can't be that complicated.
I guess the other option would be for both DMs to create campaigns and to have all the PCs join both... except, as far as I can tell, PCs can't join multiple campaigns at the same time so this is also impossible.
The only other thing I can think of would be for both DMs to create a shared account to start the campaign and then both DMs to join that campaign as NPCs so that you can all still use the any purchased content. But I honestly don’t even know if it’s allowed under the DDB site rules.

Sharing accounts is indeed not allowed under the D&D Beyond terms of service
So is this just a matter of 'this is never going to be a thing because reasons' or is it something we can potentially expect in the future?
Is there a business reason for this? Like if you can add a second DM then... the second DM doesn't need to buy the premium account or something? I'm just struggling to understand the logic of leaving out what is a pretty basic feature.
Currently, the way the system has been set up, the campaigns are coded to the DM’s account. You know how within a campaign a player (or DM) can “unassign” a character and another player can then “claim” it? I think figuring out how to “unassign/claim” whole campaigns is a bit trickier because of all of the special access DMs get to character sheets.
I don’t know if it’s something they plan to implement or not, I’m just trying to explain that it might not be such a “basic feature” as it appears to be.
Yeah it seems like they didn’t consider co-DMing when they did the basic design of the campaign feature. So they’ve set up a database where the campaign is “part” of a DM rather than a separate concept.
Ideally they could do something simple like make a “primary DM” who sets all the rule book access rights, and a set of additional DMs who could see the character sheets and (eventually) all the dice rolling.
My wife and I are Co-DMing for a group of friends and it would be really helpful if she could also see all of the character notes/private DM notes from her account. Right now if she comes up with an idea she has to write it down elsewhere and have me add it to the notes later which gets a little annoying.
I would very much like to have an option for my co-DM to have similar access to the campaign and characters as I have. In fact, just being able to access the campaign page without having him make a fake character would be great, so it doesn't mess up the encounter builder. I want to use DnDB to teach players how to DM and I think this would be really helpful to help train new DMs.
So... 4 years later and you have nothing more to say? Your response doesn't even come close to resolving the issue brought up by the OP. In fact, your response comes across as, "dndbeyond doesn't care about its paying customers and providing quality to them". Was that your intent?
I guess I'll take your recommendation to share accounts to heart. That is the only solution dndbeyond has provided.
Sharing accounts is a violation of the terms of service of both D&D Beyond and the account authentication services D&D Beyond uses.
Also my response was 1 year ago, not 4. This thread is only 3 years old, and D&D Beyond itself only just turned 4, so I'm not sure where you're deriving your length on time from.
The real question is why isn't this a feature? The campaign was created before the DM got D&D Beyond, I created it so I could share my content with my fellow players for character creation and now I'd like to hand the reigns over to the actual DM. I know there is probably a lot more coding that goes into this, but I feel like I should be able to just right click a player's name and have the option to either add them as another DM to the game or even transfer the DM ownership over to them.
Like giving someone admin rights in AD on a network. And if the person doesn't have a subscription(if that's a limiting factor) then have the option greyed out. There are a lot of people asking for this feature to be added. I just don't understand why it is so hard to make it work.

There's no way to add or transfer DM status to a campaign

This would violate the sites terms of service which specify one user per account

Training DMs is something I didn’t consider. That’s cool.
