I could be missing something, but I don't see any way to just add a language to the list of options. I'm currently in a campaign where the DM has two unique languages to the campaign, and I've just added them in my additional notes section, but I'd love to be able to add them to the spot where my other languages are on my character sheet. Just adding an option of "other" with a fill-in text field would be great.
You can ad hoc languages. Click on the languages (and other proficiencies) section of your character sheet and choose add new, and then custom language.

Oh I completely missed that custom section, I just clicked languages at the top and saw the drop-down list and no way to add a custom one. My mistake. Thanks for the help!
Yeah sadly it's still not a thing...but maybe from the character sheet you could add one. They've made this whole new add custom proficiencies and skills straight off the character sheet online. Take a look and let me know if you need more direct guidance (out of the house ATM).
This is a necro post, but others may be searching like I did & find this response.
To add a custom language to a Homebrewed monster or character, add the languages in the Language Note Override section of the basic information rather than use the Languages addition area. It will appear on the stat block correctly.
I know this is an old post, but I'm encountering the same problem. I'm looking at the Basic Information section of the Homebrew Races page. I do not see the Language Note Override section. Is this not an option for homebrew races? Any clarification would help. Thanks.

I am trying to add a language to a homebrew character I am making. How do I make and add the language?
An existing language?
No, a custom language I want to add.

This is part of the homebrew monster editor; are you looking there or on the character sheet?

No, the “language note override” is only for homebrewed monsters, as ArwensDaughter stated.
