Will these ever be added to base weapon damage? Unlike booming blade and green-flame blade, these class abilities add to base weapon damage irrespective of whether or not you're casting a spell or adding a smite or other effect. They simply occur by default. The cleric even gets it to any weapon strike, melee or ranged. Since there is no way to add dice to a weapon through customisation or even change the dice type, it'd be nice to have it automatically added for any character with these abilities.

Yea, there’s at least three other threads on this topic, maybe there’s one out there where they’ve talked about it. While you can customize the weapons to add the damage with the Magic item homebrew tools, it still won’t display unless you open the full item page. It would be a nice fix if multiple damage types would display on the actions page and that these features would populate automatically.
To get around this, I created a spell, Cantrip, based on Booming Blade,
available to clerics, changed it to do 0d8 (damage of your type)
upgrade at 8 and 14 instead of 5 and 11
removed the upgraded damage for moving
named it Divine Strike - (damage type)
1 "no action" casting time, no components, description to say what it does
I then created a magic item with the same name, wondrous, no attunement. The item just gives the spell.
This adds the damage to the notes of melee weapon attacks, like booming blade does.
If you want to repeat it for Ranged weapons, make a 2nd spell that copies the first, and edit the additional information, and change the "Affected Weapon Range Type" to ranged. I couldn't get one spell to add to both.
Hi. It's 2021 and still this is not fixed?????? It's simple just get it done. I just went up to level 11 Paladin and improved divine smite D8 is no where to be seen!? Are you guys serious...obviously not

Replying in the hopes it gets revived:

Nothing still on this?
Looking to add this to a cleric also...

I followed this way of working (spell + wondrous item) and +1d8 radiant is now added to the description of all melee weapons.
But: is there a way to have Beyond 20 also add this extra die when rolling damage?
Not yet, they’re still working on that level of “smart rolling.” Keep in mind that the dice roller is still only in beta testing phase.
