when homebrewing within Feats, in Modifiers - Bonus, can we add to the modifier Subtype selection "choose Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma" as a spell casters selection currently there is this option but with Dex or Strength as options. also can we add in the proficiency subtype more " choose a Skill" options and combinations?
Forgive me if there is already a way to do this but a XP tracker for your character sheet would be awesome
There is a spot to track XP on the sheet, but you have to manually enter the number. Are you wanting something more automatic? If so, it will help the developers if you can be more specific about what you envision.
Again forgive I’m new, I can’t find this on the digital sheet, I see it in the pdf version but that’s all.
No worries. Thank you for clarifying. Turns out it's not as obvious as I remember (I've shifted to Milestone leveling for all the games I'm in, so haven't had to fiddle with XP here for a while).
While on your character sheet, go to the builder (hit the anvil button). Choose the class tab*. Right under where it says: Character Level X where X is a number, there should be the words "manage XP" in blue. Click on that, and you can add or set XP.
If you don't see "manage XP" there, you probably have your character set for milestone leveling, in which case you need to go to the Home tab and change the leveling type to XP.
*You can shorten those first two steps slightly by clicking on the gear icon next to your character name, and choose Manage XP from the slide out.
Can you please add the actions "Overrun", "Tumble", and "Disarm" into the "Actions in Combat" list in the character sheet? They are very useful actions for a character to use and yet I have to have my DM refer to the DMG in order to use them properly instead of having it as a quick reference in my digital character sheet.
What sort of functions would you expect an API to provide?
First of all, Game Log (when a roll is happening just post it on my custom website)
Unfortunately, the game log doesn't work well in ios browsers I constantly have to refresh to page because it doesn't refresh itself so I would write an ajax script that refreshes it every 10 sec.
Second character data. I would do my own DM screen instead of waiting 3 years on Fandom to do it. They are great guys, no offence, but I need something now not when they get to it.
All and all, API would be good to make temporary stuff until they create an official version of things. (and just because I sometimes need custom stuff)
TL;DR read-only stuff from game log and character data

Hmm. Access to a sheet's Roll Log would be useful, as would being able to pull some character data. I could see myself trying to make use of something like that.
To be fair though, I suspect part of the reason for them not having a general API is fear of people just being able to pull enough to piece together entire books (or at least key sections) without much effort. Not saying it's justified (it's not like people can't do most of that now anyway just by parsing the HTML and Javascript that they get from the normal screens,) just giving a possible rationale.
That said... if you're actually willing to go far enough as to make your own DM screen, why not just skip the API and pull what you need from the character sheets? True, it would be a bit harder, and subject to breakage every time they make a major change. But as you said, it beats waiting for them to get around to stuff. Honestly, if you were to make it an open source project on Github--maybe browser code that pulls data behind the scene and functions as an API itself--I'd probably be willing to assist with some of the parsing code. (Just so long as it kept to a more mainstream language.)
As someone that tends to homebrew items, weapons, spells, and pretty much everything "Magic Item"-y, I've run into this sort of roundabout listing problem.
Whenever I create a general kind of weapon (like something akin to a Weapon of Warning that is listed as "Any sword" or something similar), I always have to create a copy of magic item, rename things to become how I want them to be, and post things as normal so that they have the "Any sword/hammer/etc." tag on their item description.
If at all possible, could you please add a choice that lets us choose a general weapon type? Perhaps make it listed as "Any..." with a box that you can fill in with a specific weapon!
yes i know that way you can but if you are the GM then you cant
Yes, you can. On the campaign page, click on “copy invite link” then paste into the url bar of the browser and hit return. You are taken to the same page the players see when they click on the link, and can add existing characters to your campaign. I wish it were more obvious/intuitive: it would be nice if there was an “add characters” on the campaign page if one is the GM, but it is possible.
i kinda wanna be a gorgon in my adventures because of how unique of a creature they are
D&D Beyond strives to accurately represent the official materials published by Wizards of the Coast. If WotC were to release a playable gorgon race, it would absolutely be represented here!
However, you are free to create your own races whenever you'd like, using the homebrew tools!
I’d like to see the XP bar have tick marks or small gaps every 25%. It would provide a small bit of help estimating how far along a character is to the next level.
Thank you for adding containers to DDB (Something I brought up about 2 weeks after you launched) . Now I am in the BETA "My Encounters" and there are glitches, understood. My recommendation though is to have conditions for the encounter. When my player cast "Hold Person" on the baddies, it would be good to be able to select who is held, making it easier to track in combat. Similarly, when the dragon cast "Fearful Presence" it would be good, as a DM, to be able to track who is feared.
Thanks. Grimplemort

Would love to have a button to launch a "Spell Card View" from the character sheet, with access to view and read my spells in a better way.

Provide an option to add a premade character to a new campaign, instead of having to tediously recreate it in the campaign.
Don't look up, cos I could be looking down :)

ok cool, that works, but what a ridiculous way to go around it, a quick easy button to add char to an existing game should be enough.
thanx for the help though.
