Literally just an empty scaffolding. I don't need you to let me make actual full classes, just give me something malleable. I can make a subclass that branches on it's own and punch in all of the mechanics as best as I can via Beyond.
I would pay $20 for literally nothing. Please let me.
There's no such thing as a "blank/empty class" though, you can't give scaffolding for a class because the class is the scaffolding
This is getting taken too literally and missing the point. No one is asking for a rules-legal “empty class” or “just a blank piece of paper.” It’s clear, especially from their follow-ups, that they’re asking for a class template/chassis to build a homebrew class from within D&D Beyond.
This is just another request for proper homebrew class support to add to the already sizable pile of requests that already exist for it.
Except this one doesn't require rewriting the entire back-end, and it still provides a useful tool for Homebrewing on Beyond.
Given what they've said about how the character builder works, it absolutely would require overhauling the back end.
It would be significantly less overhaul than instituting a single character class and would provide Homebrewers the canvas needed to "make" more. I fully reject the notion that including a blank class would require any "overhaul" of the back end, especially since the comparison made was between "adding an empty class" and "making it so we can homebrew classes".

Okay. I'm just telling you what they've told us, but perhaps you have some visibility into how the character builder works internally that I don't.

Either you're not arguing in good faith, or you're not understanding what I'm asking for. But that's fine, others seem to have gotten the memo and understand that an empty scaffolding for Homebrew is a lot more attainable than redesigning the entire back-end to accommodate outright homebrew classes.
You can’t homebrew your own class… I would like a blank class to customize.
I been wanting them to allow us to use a blank sheet with nothing selected
Exactly. We can homebrew a subclass for it that emulates a full class and use Class Options to emulate Subclasses. It would even make the option to adjust to Full or Half Caster in the subclass creation options mean something.
This would be great.
