Bumping interest on this thread.... because hey, who knows!
I'm hoping that the character sheet update also allows for any programmers with "a FG/Roll20 export with ease" function.
Even if it's a 3rd party app/script to convert from DnD Beyond to those other formats, it would be widely used and appreciated.
In the last dev update Twitch stream Badeye mentioned it. They definitely want to do it, but it means negotiating with FG and Roll 20. So, it's still on the wish list, but depends on other people at this point, afaik.

You don't OWN your books on DDB: WotC can change them any time. What do you think will happen when OneD&D comes out?
I'm so appreciative of Adam and the team's responsiveness to this community and I'm thrilled that they're taking strides to continue improving D&DB. That said, I can't wait for the character sheet update to be over. It delivers so little benefit to me personally and seems to be the all-consuming task that's got Curse's attention right now. I'm looking forward to seeing the new sheet, but I struggle to understand how the ROI for this phase of work was deemed worthy of making it the top priority. It will be exciting to see where the team goes next.
I do feel like it's a bit of a bummer that there won't be a D&DB exclusive VTT. I like Roll20 well enough, and it seems to be the frontrunner in the field (Fantasy Grounds feels pretty stale to me), but I have to say that it feels like there's a lot that a fresh take on this functionality could improve. A fully-integrated VTT that's native to D&DB would be great.
Again, love the team and appreciate all their hard work. : )

The ability to export characters to Roll20 would be a 'killer app' for me. It's clear that the DDB folk want to do it. But, based on hearing about priorities, it feels like this is pretty far away. Happy to be wrong.
I might have missed that information if it is out there but why are the Beyond team not interested in making an virtual table top for D&D Beyond? I am working my way up to buy all the books on Beyond as I love how easy everything is to find, but whit all that is already here an official VTT would make D&D Beyond perfect. It might be elfish reasons but if I could but everything at one place and use them there it would be amazing, it would be quite the bother if I need to buy things again if I want to use it on Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds. D&D Beyond make a VTT, if you create a kickstarter for it I would gladly support it.
Of course I can't say why, but just to offer an alternative perspective... I (and many others) have 0 interest in a VTT and I think that face-to-face table top community is far far bigger (I did see a stat somewhere but don't remember where). If this had started as a VTT or VTT became the priority at the expense of, say, an encounter manager, I'd be pretty unhappy. There's already a couple of good VTT's out there. Maybe Curse thought there was a different kind of opportunity.

Curse DDB team have never really explained why that I have seen, however they are working behind the scenes to negotiate with Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds to access their API and allow DDB users to export/import characters to/from those VTT services, which would make the need for a DDB VTT moot.

While I prefer face to face, as we've aged, a lot of friends have moved out of state and we still like to play together on the VTT's. It's darn near impossible to get us all together at the same time when we are in 4 different states now. So the integration would be very cool, but it does seem like a logistical nightmare. If DDB were to become a VTT it certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings either because I could save some money in that I wouldn't be buying the books across platforms. And there are a lot of us in that situation. I firmly believe that the VTT's are a great growth opportunity for WOTC, but that's just me.
Just putting this out into the aether, but I'm about to dip my toes into VTT online play, and I'm really liking what I'm seeing with Power VTT. It's not as robust as the more established ones, but that's kind of the point. It's meant to be a more streamlined tool with a lower barrier for entry, as R20 can be kind of intimidating and I've heard FG is worse.
Of course, being an upstart with one guy doing everything, there are a lot of "coming soon" features with it, which is nothing new to us here lol.
But I'm pretty sold on it being the tool for me, and I think it should be a part of the discussion here. And being such a baby product, it might actually be easier for DDB to form a relationship with them and develop some sort of tool integration between the two platforms. I'm a total layman when it comes to software development, but I worry about the issues of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole with more established products. However with both DDB and PVTT, it's easier for me to imagine both the peg and the hole as still being sort of wet clay.
I have looked at Power VTT, but I've already invested a lot of time setting up things in Roll20. For example I've already built about a quarter of the Monster Manual as NPC sheets with tokens. Unless I could port things from Roll20 to PowerVTT I wouldn't make the switch. For someone just starting out, however, it could be a good option.

This. I'd by far prefer to play in person, but I play on VTT because friends have moved away. it's not the same as sitting around a table with pizza and mt dew and rolling legit dice, but it's still fun. DDB is a great tool; easy to built characters, easy to look up rules and intuitive. Then, there's what I am stuck using, and I do mean stuck. We play on Roll20. I hate it. Importing my character and getting everything to (sort of) work was a PITA.
I think our current campaign is nearly over, and after playing mostly DW martial characters since 1988, I'm kind of tired of martial characters. I'd like to play a spellcaster for my next campaign, and Holy Mystra, importing that crap to Roll20 was horrible. I am dreading the thought of creating a new character and adding my spells. I can't just build a character like I can in DDB (I have a screen full of characters because I enjoy building them on DDB). I can't just add equipment like I can in DDB. I can go on and on about how much Roll20 sucks, but I won't do that to you. Roll20 is always going to be awful, but if I could at least import my characters from DDB, where there's a character builder it would be tolerable. I'd prefer a good VTT added to DDB, but barring that, integration so I can use DDBs good tools to make the most of Roll20's bad ones would make me want to throw my wallet at Curse.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
Well, I don´t hate Roll20 that much, but I totally agree with you. It feels like I am stuck to a tool because there is no real alternative. FG disqualifies itself because it is not a web application. If there would be just an import/export tool for characters, it would be much easier to use.
On the other hand, if there would be a nice campaign management, encounter builder, combat tracker and dice roller on DDB, I would not bother using Roll20 as anything else than a virtual table, just to show a map to my players and to move some tokens around.
Of course, the dream would be a VTT for DDB. May be BadEye will hear us one day, so lets pray together...
Put me down for supporting a full VTT in DDB. I use both DDB and Roll20 for my home games with my family, and my remote games with friends that live in other places. The only reason I use DDB is because they have source books with content linked to their character builder. It makes it far easier for my family and friends to create characters. Without that content linked character builder, it would take hours for these newish players to get characters made.
Yes Roll20 has its warts, but having fully integrated adventure modules in a VTT makes game prep much better for me as a DM. Even for my home games, I prefer using Roll20's maps with fog of war enabled, the tokens, and the linked content over the traditional setup. I just plug a laptop into the projector and display the map on a white screen. We don't even bother importing character info into Roll20. We manage the characters in DDB because it is easier for my players.
I would buy all of the WotC content in DDB, and pay for a subscription, if they were building a full VTT. For now I will only purchase the source books needed for the character builder.
Yeah, most certainly have problems with getting macro's or just spells that aren't listed in Roll20 like they are here. Playing a variety of characters has been a PITA for sure. My next one that I'm looking at works well here in DDB, but in Roll20 a Druidic Necro will have a lot of adding unusual spells.

I just want to tell everyone "happy gaming" and actually mean it. Whatever your game is, just have fun with it, it is after all, just a game.
I would be interested in this feature also

So... Twitch just needs to buy Roll20... Problem Solved :)
There is a script that has been recently released on Roll20 for Pro subscribers that allows import of DND Beyond character sheets into Roll20. https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/6248700/script-beta-beyondimporter-import-dndbeyond-character-sheets

How do you run this script or add this script to import?
Edit: Nevermind I realized I did not have Pro account
Yeah, I already superscribe to Beyond don't want to pay for roll20 as well.
