I'm wondering when the export feature will be available, because I think it should be thoroughly tested, but until then, I'm also wondering if there will be an easy way to copy and paste the basics of a sheet into a forum post for stuff like the Play by Post games in this very forum. A way to host online character sheets (either by link or by PDF / DOCx) like OrcPub would also be good.

They're working on a read-only character sheet.

Ok see that character sheet Export is available. Altough think using standard D&D sheet is not the way to go. That format is unwieldy. For examply my character as more equipment than fits in box. so half of it does not show on sheet.
Collapsing traits isn't a great solution. I would prefer the ability to hide information.
Having tabs for different functions (combat, exploration, interaction, etc.) is a great idea. I don't need the details of the Actor feat in a fight, nor do I need to know what rage does while exploring an abandoned temple. The compendium already tags a lot of this, so doing the same for race and class features makes sense.
Also, I really want to lobby for adding the damage to the collapsed attacks. 9 times out of 10 all you need is the attack bonus and damage.
Having tabs or sections is just another form of collapsing. Again, the key is to figure out what is most useful to have at a glance and what can be folded into a "read more" or tab.
We will continue to experiment to find that balance.
Well, yes, collapsing sections and tabs are similar in that one click reveals a lot, but they're different in that one tab click reveals a lot more than one section's "expand" click. Also, it's somewhat intuitive that all spells should be in a tab: that gives spells all the real estate, and it makes it much easier to make selections intelligently. This is demonstrated in part by the extra real estate you gave to equipment choices. It makes sense. One way to quantify this is to note how much time people spend on each tab. As long as the content is conceptually related, it would be nice to spread it out so that each tab gets a similar amount of time during character creation. Currently, by the time I get to the equipment tab of character creation, I'm pretty tired, and just pick a couple of things to just make the character functional.
I think I'd be happier if the character building process were all in one tab, aside from the equipment, the companions, and the spells (which, again, I'd love to see moved to their own tabs). That would allow selecting background, race, ability scores, and class on one tab, and scroll to the bottom to see all the proficiency choices I have to make. They can still be sequential, just make the area where feature choices are all below the major choices (background, race, class, and maybe archetype), and move the features that offer choices to the next spot, and roll all the other features to the bottom. I want to be able to make a character (myself) in 5 minutes or less.
On a separate matter, a while back, someone suggested allowing folks to comment on individual elements as part of their homebrew. I see the potential integration of build-advice forums ranking choices. For example, I find that so many spells are not so great (I'm looking at you, Blade Ward and True Strike), and it might be nice to see some of the more noteworthy comments on those spells. And this is definitely something far down on the priority list of things to do, with little urgency (although I do wish I could integrate my homebrew rules (below) into my D&D Beyond homebrew), but it's often smart to build the architecture while keeping these kinds of ideas in mind for the future.
I want to note how much I like the user-oriented-development you've had on this project. I'm honestly VERY impressed by your work, and hope that you shrug off the regular forum comment that exaggerates how terrible some feature or another is. I'm part of the problem, in a sense, since I don't like the pricing, but I'll end up spending way less on D&D Beyond, even buying everything, than I ever spent on D&D Insider (the 4e version of this project).
When I exported a lvl 2 Ranger I only got his skills listed as example: "Favored Enemy" but I would love to have his choice of enemy, and bonuses listed below as pointers. Just a suggestion.
Any chance thieves tools can be listed on the skills page? It isn't easy to find when you build a rogue and lets face it, it's a primary skill for rogues.
I exported a character sheet and noticed that Auto text resizing on the Personality traits section, specifically Bonds and Flaws, was not functioning properly.
I checked the fields in Acrobat and they are set to Auto text size as they should be.
I was able to fix the resizing issue two ways: by cutting the text, selecting another field, and then re-selecting the Bond/Flaw field and pasting the cut text, and also by editing the document, selecting the Bond/Flaw field properties, changing the text size to 6pt, then back to Auto.
Spell Attack Modifier - where is it? I see my spell casting modifier, and I REALLY REALLY like that DC's are on the spell names, but spell attack modifier is neither in my attacks box nor in my spellcasting box.

Looks like 2 places to see your attack modifier on the pdf sheet. Page 1 under attacks and spellcasting lists it for each spell, or page 3 top right corner. Spell attack bonus. If you are talking about the individual break down, you need to look at your modifier and add your proficiency, but that has been done in the 2 spots I reference.
Thanks. It seems like a good start. Later I'd like to also see a function that allows for easy copying and pasting into PBP games (especially in these very forums) and/or a direct link, but for now I guess PDF + Hosting is a start.
I just noticed an oddity on my exported 20th level character. It is a Bard/Cleric/Sorceree and for someone reason for ability score it says cha/WIS/CHA. Any reason the first cha is lower case but the other two are capitalized

For the pdf export, can we add summaries and/or page reference numbers to the features and traits? Also some of the features not referenced in play probably shouldn't be included, like "Hit Points".
I know that it's possible for a Small character to wield a weapon with the Heavy property, but they do so with disadvantage. Is there any way in the character builder to warn players trying to equip their Small characters with a heavy weapon? Or, at least, in their Attacks box, notify them that they'll roll with disadvantage? Thanks!
1. Why is my Race Trait cantrip chosen and listed separately from other spells? Just let me add an additional spell in normal spell management page (with note as to why I get 5 instead of 4), and list with other spells on char sheet.
2. Separate lists for prepared spells and spellbook is awkward. Just have one list (spellbook), and add filter button, similar to filters for level, for "prepared only".

When exporting a sheet for my party, I get a 403 Error on the first one. That one cannot seem to be exported.
I see monsters from the Volo's Guide book, but not the player races. Are those going to be added?
Yes - All books will be available at launch.

As a Human I get to know more languages I do not see a place to add the other known languages or even languages to choose from.
