If you're going to hand them out, you could probably print them. Other than that, sharing or assigning characters to people in your campaign is not in (yet). They could join a campaign with the skeletal character (no options chosen) and you can modify that character for them.
That's unfortunate. A few of these folks haven't played 5E yet, so the printed character sheets are pretty much worthless.
I'm assuming, since I don't see it, that the dragonchess set is not part of the SRD or Basic Rules?
You are correct though it is not part of the SRD or the Basic Rules.
Not true. The Dragonchess Set and Three-Dragon Ante Set are listed in the Basic Rules (page 51 of v0.3), the link that Matthias_von_Schwarzwald even states that the source is the Basic rules. They are however, not in the SRD because they are games for which WotC hold the IP and therefore not open licence.
They have either been excluded accidentally or have been excluded from the builder on purpose because of IP and licence concerns.

I stand corrected, and made an assumption as I checked the SRD, and didn't follow the link that Matthias gave. My apologies.
Some general UI feedback upon quickly creating a character that was mildly frustrating.
Choose Race/Choose Class: Instead of a popup display the information on the page. Popups are distracting and it makes it difficult for me to quickly go back and forth between races if I am trying to compare. I would suggest having the race open up beneath it or ideally creating a separate column to the right that the quick overview will appear before the final race selection. You even have the little arrows indicating that something is likely to appear below or the the right after I select but instead I get this obtrusive popup. Nobody ever likes popups.
Manually selecting health: I don't think you really need a popup. A warning box after changing the selection would have the same effect.
Making Changes: As an example, after I have chosen my class and I am picking my proficiencies the grey overlay that appears on the screen is very annoying and impacts my user experience. I am sure it is because you are sending/waiting for a response from the server but does the experience need to be impacted for the successful use case when it is on the same page?
Expanding Items: If I expand an item or spell when viewing a character I would expect to see everything. Or at least the key details if they exist. I shouldn't need to click to expand, and then click to Show more. It is an unnecessary click. Especially silly for equipment items like Great Axe that basically has no additional effect when clicking Show More or Show Less. Probably some edge case rendering logic there.
I can take and attach screenshots for each of these if you think it would be helpful.
Not sure if this has been mentioned in the last 82 pages, but for Clerics, all the ritual spells are listed under Rituals; however, Clerics can only cast the spells as rituals if they have them already prepared. Wouldn't it make more sense for Clerics to only show the rituals that they have prepared there?

It's been mentioned. They know about it.

Yeah, this is why my players and I have walked away from this project. The Character sheet pdf is so useless that we have to re write it so does not really save us any time or effort. We will check back every now and then to see if there have been improvements, but as is, we don't find it worth while.
For those that like to use devices (which is their target audience) I am guessing this system is great.

Hi Golaryn,
please can you give some examples of what you have found needs to be re-written and what your group finds is not worthwhile?
This sort of feedback helps the development team shape D&D Beyond to be the tool that the community want it to be.
We were trying out the random character generator and while cool, couple of things could make it really usable:
checkbox to add starting equipment
the ability scores option at the start. The "manual", while interesting and really goes well with the random builder, pretty much makes it unusable for creating actual characters.
while the background is chosen by random, it also has flaws/ideals/bonds/traits as a random table in the description. But that table is not used. As an aside from the random generator - it would be helpful if the Personal Characteristics part (builder#/description/manage) would allow picking from the list the background suggests instead of just offering a blank text box.
I understand this may be complicated/complex, but generating magic items as per DMG would be really helpful as well. I've done that once for a party of level 9 characters and between two people it took almost two hours to do all the rolls and look up all the items from all the tables in DMG.
Hi, I have been using this website for a while, and it bothers me that there are still no character races from Volo's.
Could you add this sometime in the future?
Wondering if anybody else is annoyed about this.
Thanks,
Racing Wombat
Hi Wombat, the options from Volos weren't part of the free Basic or SRD rules, so weren't included in the open beta. They will be available as a purchase after the full launch on the 15th.

Hi Racing_Wombat,
As Koren mentions, during the beta test of D&D Beyond, we'll only be including content that is freely available from Wizards of the Coast, including the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion and potentially others. The beta will not include additional content from a Commercially Released Book, Module or Supplement.
All of the remaining published content from the PHB, DMG, MM and other D&D 5th edition books will be added to D&D Beyond for product release - the cost for accessing this material has just been announced.
All of Volo's has been added to the database (several weeks ago actually) and is ready for launch in under a week!
Not sure if this has been posted already (didn't fancy reading 82 pages of posts) but when i was creating a character some backgrounds weren't available?
I tried to make a Barbarian with the Outlander background but only a handful were available. Was wondering if anyone knew why this was?

Barely two posts above you is the answer:

I decided to give this a try and used the random feature and selected a level 5 human cleric with multi-class available and feats allowed.
First, it spread the 5 levels out over 4 classes ... not something I normally see with character building. (Broke or just unlucky roll ... Not sure)
Second, it gave me a Grappler feat with a str req of 13 and my str was 10 ... that will need to be fixed.
So far, I'm enjoying what I see, but it appears that there is still a lot of tweaking to do. Keep it up!
Ok, I just tried the Quick Build Option and just got Svirfneblin Magic but I am Human ... I'm thinking that there needs to be some cross reference to the feat requirements before choosing them for the character.
Turns out that only those two feats are available for me to choose, even when I use the standard method as well.
How can I create a custom race to use for the character builder?
My current game is set in Eberron and we have some stats used for a Changeling Cleric but it would let me create a race.
Similarly what if I wanted to create my own subrace, how can that be handled?

Made a simple fighter.
When I print the sheet, I'm looking at the Features and Traits section and the Fighting Style just says "Fighting Style".
Is this a beta thing or are we stuck with very un-descriptive character sheets?
