The key part I need is for my players to be able to view / manage the character from the character sheet UI at the table. Even if I add the character to a campaign - I'm the only one that can access the character. This makes it much easier for me delegate to my players which in turn makes it easier to run encounters.
As of today (in my time zone), you can transfer ownership of characters in a campaign. Check the changelog.
I have been using this site for a few weeks now, and I like it a lot. The only thing I find hindering is not being able to create items on my characters pages in my campaign. It would be really handy to be able to create a quick item while using the add item feature.
In my campaigns I make a lot of homebrew content, including descriptive mundane items (not magical), such as trade materials that my players may pick up or narrative mundane items (like non-magical ceremonial weapons, for example).
It would be really awesome to see the ability to make custom non-magical items for my campaigns or add custom descriptions (sort of the same way you can make a custom attack on your character sheet). This would allow me to make narrative notations on items that I give to my players. Details that I think would be cool for a feature like this would be:
Custom Item Name
Custom Item description (locked from player edits)
Custom Item weight value
Ability for players, not just DMs, to add notes to items
Love this system! Have been using D&D Beyond since learning about it in September of last year and I'll probably never stop using it :)
I find I place a lot of restriction on player choice in character creation in my campaigns, but the character creator.
It would be useful in a campaign, to flag certain races/subraces/classes/subclasses as not allowable in a particular campaign from the campaign management page, so that when a player creates a character in the campaign these options are now allowable.
e.g: No Eladarin, no Kenku, no Paladins, no Path of Ancients Barbarians.
The ability to add custom notes to items would be really great because it allows doing stuff like adding quirks and other things to plain magic weapons as mentioned in the DMG.
Has rewarding custom feats at will to the players as the DM been mentioned somewhere? As that's the only real character creation limitation I have run into thus far.

It has. I don't think it is going to be part of the Campaign Management, or at least not solely part of it. Ad-hoc feats/skills/tools/languages are coming with the Character Sheet Revamp (see this month's Dev Stream), but I can easily see the need for a DM to make the call when it is acceptable if that character is assigned to a campaign.
Awesome. I'd like to reward my players with feats after a major story arch based on their achievements. Currently I don't really have a way to do so sadly, other then manual tracking ofc.

The current work around is to create a magic item (does not require attunement) that grants the abilities of the feat. That way, the appropriate bonuses at least show up on the character sheet.

I literally have not of this, and it makes me mad! Haha. It would almost work as a way to make like my Gunslinger or something, too. Man ... Thank you for this!

Holy frag this is a smart workaround. I foresee rings in my PC's their future.
It would be great if I could get an "at a glance" page for a given campaign. Just a simple listing of characters with max hp, current hp, AC, Passive Perception, and any affects currently on the characters. Something that I can quickly glance at when trying to see if the group is about to see a trap or if an enemy attack is successful.

Feature I desire most: The ability to promote or assign the "Dungeon Master" role to any participant in any campaign I have created.
Being able to let other players take reigns, view sheets, and share my content without having to make double or triple purchases would be amazing.
I agree it would be nice to pass the DM responsibility around without having to create a new campaign, but even in the current state it needn't require double or triple purchases. Anyone in the campaign can turn on content sharing it doesn't have to be the DM.
One thing that I haven't run into an issue with just yet, but I can see it looming on the horizon, is the ability to run a West Marches style campaign.
I'm currently running one with a group from work - which is rapidly growing - and will be running another with a group of friends. The 12-player limit is definitely fine for most campaigns, but I can easily see West Marches campaigns blowing past that limit very quickly.
Setting up a secondary campaign to manage players beyond the initial 12 would work, but if you're running more than one, then you're out of campaign slots and may need to mix characters from different West Marches campaigns into this new "overflow" campaign.
At the moment it isn't a huge deal because the Campaign functionality is basically just a way to allow people to see what classes the party already has covered and to let me share my purchases with the group, but if the Campaign Management functionality starts to grow in scope, it could become a much more important issue.
One thing that would be great would be having the ability to create some sort of Welcome Message that gives people some specific info when they join the campaign, or to be able to alert people when you've updated the Campaign Notes. I've been using the Campaign Description to display the schedule of upcoming sessions, but being able to put that somewhere specific would be more ideal - I've leveraged the Public DM Notes to have information for new players and more general information for all of the players in the campaign. The ability to organize all of this information more effectively and efficiently would be great. Most people will ignore a long wall of text, so it would be useful if we could organize it into smaller bits that they can consume when necessary or that we can reveal to them when pertinent.
As I'm sure others have mentioned, being able to restrict what is shared or what is available in the Character Builder, would also be great if you are trying to run a campaign with certain parameters or if you only want to include some of your homebrewed items, backgrounds, races, etc. I don't really need any initiative tracking or encounter building functionality, but I can see how it would be useful to others who are hoping to leverage the app for everything in their sessions.
Overall, the Campaign Management and Content Sharing have really helped in onboarding new players and getting them interested in playing D&D - and using D&D Beyond for managing their characters - and I'm looking forward to further features and improvements to the system.
I see that you can create unassigned characters within a campaign now, which is great. Is there anyway for me to move existing characters I have in my pool into a campaign?

One step at a time, those would be of most immediate benefit to me at my table. I have loads of wants long term but I'm being realistic here for now.

Is there a way of sharing specific content - so you can share your players handbook stuff but not Dungeon Masters Guide and Monster manual?
