I'd like to be able to add my characters to my campaign. I have NPCs that PC may need to play and I'd like to be able to share them with the group. The current PDF generator is a poor substitute for using the character site.
You can add characters to your own campaign. Go to the same link that you give your players.
Just one additional note though. Even if you add them to the campaign the players won't be able to access them, just as they cannot see each other's sheets now. Only the DM can see all the characters within a campaign. Hopefully that changes at some point. It would be super useful if the DM could change the permissions and allow a player or players to see other sheets. Allowing Player X to see/run an NPC, or another player's character if they had to miss a session for example.
A lot of people are mixing up campaign management and combat management. WoTC already licenses to two platforms for combat management. I could be wrong, but I don't think they would want to compete with those entities.
I think you're confusing combat management with visualization of combat. I have no use for a virtual grid at my table to visualize combat. I do have use for an encounter builder and initiative tracker that will link to player and monster abilities.
I'll try to ignore the somewhat combative tone of your 'reply' to my comment.
I'm not confusing the two. I consider one a subset of the other. If you want to split hairs and call me confused, though, I can't fix that.
I hope this is still the right place, as I see the last post in the thread was March 2017. I'm a new subscriber, and found a feature wanting from the tools.
I've seen it mentioned in a few places, but I wanted to add my voice to that. The ability to add NPC characters to a campaign would be awesome.
As a bonus, I would also like to be able to make them public or private as I choose. I have some players that have followers (adopted children, family retainers, etc), so I would want to make those NPC's public. I also have some bad guys and other NPC's that I'd want to keep secret. Having those characters listed with the campaign would make things easier for me to keep track of.

You can already add your own NPC characters to the campaign. Navigate to the url link you send your players, that will allow you to add or create a character in the campaign.

That's not really a great way. For NPCs, I would like something simpler like when I create an NPC for Roll20.

I never said it was a great way. But it is a way. But what way are you expecting? He said he wants to add NPC characters to the campaign, and that is a valid way to do that at this point. Asking for an additional feature is great, but more information would be helpful to understand what you want.
The published NPCs (both generic--e.g. acolyte, veteran, and specific--e.g. Xandala from TOA) are considered "Monsters" here. You could create homebrew "monster" npcs. If you are working on a laptop and using Chrome, you can create links to them in the notes area of the campaign using the capabilities of the Beyond Help Chrome Extensions. The one caveat is that if you are using content sharing, the players could go looking for the "secret" npc info. It's a stop gap/workaround, but it's been working for me. YMMV.
1. A DM campaign screen that shows all players passive skill checks, AC, and any other info that is useful when rolling secret checks and such against them.
2. A section of the compendium that just lists charts from sources you have access to so you can roll on them easier.
3. A menu item that allows you to see premade NPC characters apart from the monsters that appear in the same book.
4. Ability to homebrew a class
5. Basic tracking tools: initiative tracking, character and monster hp tracking and such
6. Giving monster entries tracking items for using them as encounters: a item that track legendary abilities you've used; spells per day tracker, etc
7. Monsters that could have a few simple things altered and then saved without having to homebrew. Like if it carries a weapon, a pull down to change the weapon, stuff like that.
I think it has been mentioned before, but not for a while...

Could you describe how you make an NPC on Roll20? Not all of us use that service.
It's like creating a monster here only even simpler. When you create an NPC, you fill in very simple stat blocks instead of selecting all the features like a PC. And when you run a big long campaign, and you have ses players, six slots for NPCs is not a lot.
As I am unsure to what extent you are talking about, I would like to expound upon it with my own thoughts. I don't need the ability to fully build a homebrew class, per se, but rather the ability to grant additional proficiencies or feats or something to that effect. For example, one game I am in has opted to add a bonus to the number of "known spells" by your spellcasting ability modifier (minimum of zero). Or I have heard of people doing away with prepared spells and just letting people cast what they know. I recently allowed the players of a game I run to spend several months in-game doing different things they desired. Some of them opted to learn new skills, while others chose to "have fun". Being able to award proficiency or half-proficiency would be an amazing option.
I say all of that, in a rather horribly structured paragraph, to say that I would like some ways to grant my players extra options when the need arises or to implement player-centric home rules.

Bonus skills, feats, etc. are expected to be part of the character sheet revamp, but I don't know if it'll be possible to change the prepared-spells rules.

Also, having the ability to hide them is great. I have some high level characters that are rivals to the party, and I don't want them knowing who they are.
Could you describe how you make an NPC on Roll20? Not all of us use that service.
I wouldn't use Roll20 as an example of a campaign manager. It's pretty much a shared tabletop for rolling dice and keeping track of combat (either using tokens or TotM).
A good example of a campaign manager is Obsidian Portal. I highly encourage anyone who's interested in what a campaign manager could do take the opportunity to play around with that platform.
As to your question, a generic NPC doesn't have combat stats. However, they might be important in other ways. Generally, you'll just need a name, a quick bio, and identifying characteristics. If you use voices for your NPC's, you might put notes to remind you how that NPC speaks. Additionally, you may want to update your notes on particular NPCs if they develop a like/dislike to particular PC's, how they relate to the rest of the world, and where they might be found. It's also good to keep track of if they are alive or dead :p
There are way too many NPCs in a typical campaign world to make each one a fully fleshed out character with a class, etc.
Additionally, it would be nice to keep public notes on an NPC which the characters know and private notes which they are not aware of (like secretly being a cult member, wererat, etc.)
I'd like to be able to add my characters to my campaign. I have NPCs that PC may need to play and I'd like to be able to share them with the group. The current PDF generator is a poor substitute for using the character site.
You can add characters to your own campaign. Go to the same link that you give your players.
The key part I need is for my players to be able to view / manage the character from the character sheet UI at the table. Even if I add the character to a campaign - I'm the only one that can access the character. This makes it much easier for me delegate to my players which in turn makes it easier to run encounters.

As of today (in my time zone), you can transfer ownership of characters in a campaign. Check the changelog.

Has the product team articulated their values for Campaign Management somewhere?
What are the product goals for Campaign Management?
What problems are they interested in solving?
Currently, CM is just a way to share access to content to other users, which is a very basic concept of a campaign. A little structure/definition from the product team would help us give better feedback.

I'm sure most of these have been suggested.
1. A DM campaign screen that shows all players passive skill checks, AC, and any other info that is useful when rolling secret checks and such against them.

4. Ability to homebrew a class

Yes, but I don't know where.
I don't remember fully. All I remember--until someone mentions a feature--is that it's going to be very impressive.
