Hello. I purchased Mordenkainen's Tome of foes but after that purchase I received an email with a bonus offer for the purchase. How can I obtain the bonus content if it wasn't available at the time of checkout?
Just figured I'd share this here since most of this thread is criticism of the pricing structure. I just pre-ordered both of the recently announced adventures for a grand total of $31.86. Got a 15% discount from the legendary bundle and used DDB25 to take another 25% off of that. That's a steal compared to the MSRP which is $100. I paid less than a third of that. Even without the discounts, the adventures combined would come out to $50, still way below MSRP, and (based off past releases) below the $30+ each that they would be on Amazon.

Same! The savings by buying on DDB are amazing. $31 for TWO hardcover books. And when they come out for pre-order on Amazon they will likely be about 40% off each as well, so you can really get the hardcovers & the digital for about the same price (or cheaper?) than buying just the hardcovers from a brick & mortar store.

You don't OWN your books on DDB: WotC can change them any time. What do you think will happen when OneD&D comes out?

I would suggest checking with the account support folks, as I think they'll most be able to help you. (You could try posting your question as a new thread first, since I think it likely got lost here, but I think even then you are likely to be directed to the link I provided.)

I also purchased it before the email, and still got the Rakkma adventure, and was advertised as such beforehand. Should be there under your content.
As long time D&D player what I'd like to know is what happens if I pay for all the available books here and then a new edition comes out. Are we going to have to buy all of this stuff all over again and do we get a discount ? Once everyone starts moving to the new edition does this website and all the purchased content become irrelevant ?

Of course, if a new edition comes out, you have to buy things all over again, like one does for physical books.
As per this website, there is no reason to think at this point in time that it closes when an eventual 6th edition comes out.
Greetings, all seeing, mighty smiters of the D&D multiverse.
Just wondering your great mightyship, when will "Waterdeep: Dragon Heist" & "Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage" show up in the legendary bundle?
I was planning on buying the bundle to get all the content but saw that they are not currently listed as part of the bundle.
Grovelling Humbly, myeae ;)
Hi myaea! o/
If previous releases are anything to go by, I think they will be added to the bundle when they officially come out here on DDB.
It is worth noting that if you get the Legendary Bundle now already, you not only get everything currently released at a discount, but that same discount (15% IIRC) also applies to all future releases, so all you'd have to do is buy the digital version of the Waterdeep adventures when they come out OR their pre-order (which usually comes with some sort of bonus, as it happened with Xanathar's Guide to Everything and Mordekaine's Tome of Foes) and you'd still be paying less than normal digital version price.
Hello, I was wondering why an address of residence is required to make a purchase. I just wanted to checkout with PayPal, but it says I still have to give my address. What does DnD Beyond need that for?

I will also point out that the material wouldn't become irrelevant unless you are playing Adventure League. there are still people playing 1st through 3.5* including using D&D stuff for Pathfinder (as it originally came out as an alt to 4th ed D&D). With how things are going, i do not see them changing to 6th that soon as 5th is a cash cow for them and making a new edition would probably drive everyone away again. Could they some day? sure, but by then, we could have a repeat of 3.5 where it still hangs around as the most popular for a long time. I would think our purchases would still be good, might just have to go to a new tab is all.
*I do not know of anyone playing 4th, otherwise i would have included it. W

I just want to tell everyone "happy gaming" and actually mean it. Whatever your game is, just have fun with it, it is after all, just a game.

And that is why they release to B&M first. they cannot compete with Amazon and the likes. sadly, my FLGS is 45 miles away and i do not play there, just get the alt covers when they are released.

TL;DR: You can already buy the PHB in both physical and digital formats (from Amazon + DDB) for only $8 more than the physical version alone from your FLGS.
It is unlikely WotC would allow Amazon (as a reseller) to offer such a bundle/discount because Amazon is acting as a reseller much as any brick & mortar FLGS is acting a reseller. Amazon already massively discounts the books, which the FLGSs can't compete with. This is why the books come out earlier in stores than on Amazon, it is an olive branch to the B&M stores from WotC. Given the massive discount Amazon already gives, if Amazon also provided an additional discount on DDB purchases (which also already cost less than a print copy from an FLGS), the FLGSs would be up in arms. They would have no way to offer the same discount, and would be at an even greater disadvantage. Let's be honest, if someone could get a physical and digital copy from Amazon/DDB for less than the cost of the physical copy from an FLGS, they will choose Amazon/DDB.
Let's also consider this:
If you buy your PHB from Amazon right now, you can get it for about $28 USD. The cost of the PHB on DDB is $29.99 (assuming no discount). So total for both is about $58 USD.
The MSRP of the PHB (ie. the price listed on the back of the book) is $49.95 USD>
That's a difference of $8.00. In other other words, right now anyone who has neither the PHB hardcover or digital version from DDB can buy BOTH for only $8 more than buying the hardcover version alone in their local B&M store. Unless you really need to save $8, why wouldn't you order the hardcover from Amazon, and the digital from DDB?
And if you think Amazon/Curse could/should offer a discount on the digital version for having purchased the hardcover from Amazon, how much are you expecting??? At least $8 I assume. More than than that?
It seems to me the people complaining about the cost on DDB either (A) bought their physical copy from a B&M store, and feel burned, or; (B) don't believe that "digital" versions of "real world" things have "real value".
and lets not forget to compare Apples to Apples here, there is a compendium only version for only $19.99. It is only a digital version of the book without the toolset. So please compare the physical book in your hand ($29.99 - $49.99) to that. there is no character generator with your physical book now is there? you have to actually read it and then a lot of paper work..oh and you got that fancy other book with options that you want to use? yep, you have to read it and figure it all out as well.
OR, you can pony up the extra $10, get the book AND toolset for $29.99. Then as you get each book AND toolset, they magically work together to help you create your character. That is the hard work DDB has put in that doesn't come with your physical book, that is what you are paying for when you buy it all here. Sorry you bought a physical book and now mad about that you don't get something that wasn't promised that you would get for free to use. However, you can resell those physical and buy the books here or you can homebrew all the options you want to use (you do the work instead of paying the $10 to DDB that already did it for a lot more cost).

Thanks for the input. I'm just on the fence on this since I've already invested money in 3 hard cover books already, and since I don't have a lot of extra $$$$ it's hard trying to justify buying it all over again.

Then don't. You can use DDB as is for free with the basic rules and home-brew any official rules from the books you bought to get the other features not in the basic rules.
Cost: $0.00

Come on dude, you can only build the most basic of a character without at least buying the PHB. That's like going to an icecream store that's giving away free icecream and when you get there they are "Oh Yeah, it's only chocolate."

You can use DDB for free by putting in effort to cover anything that isn't already free. You just have to enter things in yourself if you're not willing to pay DDB to provide that functionality for you.

I can understand the hesitation, and only you can decide if purchasing here is worth it to you. There are a wide variety of options for purchasing here; it's possible that one or more of the options will suit you. As others have said, you can homebrew play options. You can buy player options piece meal (only the specific subclasses, races, etc. you need). See the Buyers' guide link in my signature below for a batch of different scenarios and buying options. (No worries if you decide DDB isn't for you; I chimed in because the wide range of options isn't always obvious to newcomers here)

Thank you, I think I'm going to break down and start buying the books here slowly. There are a lot of options and I guess I just need to get over it and get with the program hehe
