I am trying to build a variant Dwarf race with a viking theme. Hence for their tool proficiences there is a more nautical theme. I know for the modifier you have the ability to set proficiency and for the sub type choose tool, but is there anyway to limit the choices. I know Dwarven artisan's tools are an option, but as my reason was to take out mason's tools and add carpenter, cartographer, navigator, and wood carver that doesn't quite work. I have what tools you are supposed to choose from in the description, but is there any way to set the options?

I'm sure there will be a way to do this properly when homebrew tools are finally revamped, but until then the only way is a semi-clunky workaround.
You can make trait options then give each option a different tool proficiency.
Was just trying to do the same thing and still can't seem to make it work :(
You would have to set each tool up as its own Option, you can find a walkthrough on how to set up Options in the Homebrew Subclasses & Species FAQ #1: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq).
