Because of the lockdown I had a lot of time creating/writing my own races and subraces for fun and I want to add it on my DDB account. I have this one race, for simplicity let me call it A, that has 5 subraces (namely 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5). After I finished setting up my race, I went to the character builder to test if all the inputs work. At the 'Race' section I was surprised to see subraces 1 to 5 scattered across the options. The base race A is missing and I was sure to add it 1 to 5 as subrace for A.
Is there an option to make it a drop down list just like how we choose for other races like elf or dwarf? The only option I figured out was to put my homebrew subraces to a 'race group' and they will be added to the drop down list of the said race group. However the only race group options available are the official races for DnD 5e.
TL;DR - have the ability or option to make my homebrew race have a dropdown list of its subraces instead of it being scattered. Or at least the function that adds my homebrew races to the selection of available 'race groups'
Race groups don't support homebrew races currently. If you did everything right, the subraces will still have the parent race traits appropriately. For now, I suggest changing the subrace names like Sposta suggested.
I know this thread is a few months old, but am I the only one who still finds this incredibly irritating? I've seen threads as far back as 2017 (which I think is when the homebrew options were added) complaining and questioning the layouts of homebrew content and grouping the subraces together in a drop-down menu.

I don’t it will be fixed/addressed until they get around to overhauling the homebrew system. No word on when that will be. My personal guess is it will be a year or two at least. The number of improvements and outright fixes that are on the list to do and are desired by users is nearly infinite. They can only do so much at a time, and then WOTC keeps through in new mechanics and new twists on mechanics at them, often times requiring entire rewrite of systems.
The general features system and rules exceptions system (both currently in development for early release this year) will hopefully make DDB pretty future proof against new mechanics.

True enough. that should definitely help free up resources for other improvements.
I have a question regarding creating Homebrew races and subraces. I've gotten past my frustration of it appearing incorrectly in the list, nothing I can do there. But for some reason when I attempt to use the Homebrew subrace, it is not adding the features of the parent race. Any solution to this?

If you start the names off with the same word like Orc, Red and Orc, Mountain (or whatever) then they usually are at least all next to each other.
