I am a new DM and I want to use dndbeyond to help me keep track of everything, but I'm DMing for my family who have never played so I made their characters on my email. They only have limited access to view their character sheets that I made and I cannot find a way to add those characters to a campaign I created. I don't know if I'm missing a button or if it is done that way intentionally but I would like to have some more information. Any tips!
Click on the Invite to Campaign link and add the character to the campaign.
Leave them unassigned so your group can pick which characters they want by claiming them.
If you can afford it, a Master Tier Subscription with Campaign Sharing enabled will let them each make characters for your campaign and any sources you own on D&D Beyond will be available to them.
If you are the one who created the campaign, on the campaign page, click on the "copy ink" under the invitation link. Then paste that link in a new browser tab. This will open a page where you can add characters. Add the characters you want. (You may have to do this one at at time)
Now go back to the campaign page; you should see a list of the characters you added. If you click "unassign" below each character, they will be free for the other players to use.
If you haven't done so yet, invite your players using the invite link, and they can choose one of those characters.
but those do not do anything that would allow me ot add a character to my campaign.
As an aside, i can;t do much of anything with my campaign. Just take notes, either private or public (and that seems pretty useless), make unassigned characters (which would be fine if i hadn't already made the characters i want to make), and send that link (the only useful thing i can do, and it seems to work, as one guy was able to join my campaign).

Copy link. Paste it in your address bar. You should be able to choose any of your characters that aren't in a campaign. Apologies if you have multiple characters to move.
As DM, you'll be able to view all aspects of a character in your campaign and edit it if you need to. The personality and backstory are private between you and the player.

I wish they would add a simple button. This question pops up too often.
Yes, it's not the most intuitive process It's also not difficult when the process is understood, just annoying.
Right. And I do understand it, but it is not as easy as it should be.
Can you explain how I can add characters to a campaign? Or how to give my players control over the character sheet?

Keep in mind when someone claims an unassigned character, it is removed from your characters.
I am also trying to do this exact thing. There is no link to click on. Do you mean the thing that looks like this:
Copy link. Paste it in your address bar. You should be able to choose any of your characters that aren't in a campaign. Apologies if you have multiple characters to move.
As DM, you'll be able to view all aspects of a character in your campaign and edit it if you need to. The personality and backstory are private between you and the player.
Thanks! :)
The fact that this process had to be explained 2 and a half times in 1 thread is proof that there needs to be a simple "add character" button.
No kidding. I had to explain it for someone else in another thread a few days ago too.

I just spent an hour trying to figure this out. Unbelievable that it is this convoluted. Why is there not a button in preferences?!
