when using the modified linage, more specifically changing ability scores, choosing one ability score increase does not remove the option to chose that ability score form other selections. For example: a half-elf has one +2 and two +1s to distribute, choosing +2 DEX does not eliminate the option to chose DEX for the +1s, potentially causing a +4 on DEX.
It’s known issue, acknowledged in the OP of the Tasha’s support thread. I’m guessing that means it won’t be an easy fix.
Nope, the only thing stopping you from adding say Con to where you already added Con as such is if the ability is at 20 already. Even ifs 19 it will still allow the +2 to be added. It works the same way ASI works. So I doubt its going to be something they can fix and it will be upto the DM if they allow it in their game, and if they do be honest by not placing +3 to an ability instead of +2 in one and +1 in another. This can be seen when the sheet is shared publicly by clicking on the ability and looking at the distribution of the +'s in it, along with its base score.
