Very disappointing. There aren't any ads in the print version -- why should there be any in D&DB?
Do you have a free account? Or paid? Paid vs free should be irrelevant. The clip looks to not be fromt he compendium, but rather the character's tab. What if you look up the lucky feat via the compendium, rather than by Characters - Feats - Official, does it show ads on that page?
checking lovely Xanathars content and noticed adds were back. Thanks for looking into!
edit: seeing them all over the place. Just typed a search in the search bar and had a full page advert take over. Using an iPhone if that helps at all. Switching to labtop to see if I'm getting there too. Also, I want a bigger screen to enjoy XGTE content on :)
Do you have a paid account, or free? Paid vs Free is irrelevant for compendium content. The link you put is not for the compendium, what if you look in the compendium for the fighter class rather than the characters tab? Does it show ads?
I reached the page through the table of contents in the PHB.
EDIT: also, it should be noted that the full description of the Lucky feat is *only* available as purchased content. It’s not part of the basic rules or SRD.
Ultimately it still looks like you left the compendium to get to that specific feats page since your website breadcrumbs are "Home - Feats - Lucky" rather than "Home - Rules -Compendium". Did you click "Feats Listing" and then after clicking "Lucky" clicked "VIEW DETAILS PAGE"?.
A moderator could comment if what I am getting at is true, but I believe that if you have a free account then going through the "Feats listing" is the same as going to Characters-Feats, which would take you out of the compendium. Since that page is not considered the compendium it is appropriate for ads to be on.
Yes, I clicked on the Feats listing and then details for the Lucky feat. Again, THAT IS PURCHASED CONTENT. There is no way to get the details of the Lucky feat without PURCHASING the PHB. We have been told repeatedly that there should not be any ads on ANY purchased content, but that is exactly what’s happening here.
From the FAQ regarding purchased content and subscriptions. It is not ANY purchased content, just the compendium. Going to anything outside of the compendium is free game for advertisements.
Q15b: Does that mean I will see adverts on every page, if I don't have a subscription?
Absolutely not - no adverts will be displayed on compendium pages for purchased content, even for free accounts.
This means that, if you purchase the Player's Handbook, you can browse that content, without seeing a single advert, regardless of whether you are paying for a subscription.
Adverts are being used as a source of revenue to reduce the costs that are passed on to those who use the site.
The Compendium includes all the paid rulebooks and adventures. Regardless of what the breadcrumbs say, the feat details are part of the PHB and therefore part of the Compendium. They are purchased Compendium content.
There are other places where this happens, too. Lost Mine of Phandelver is a Compendium adventure that includes the Nothic monster description. However, even if you buy LMoP, the monster description includes ads. Since it's part of LMoP, it should be treated as purchased Compendium content and therefore ad-free.
This is simply a bug in the system's ability to property recognize some pages as purchased Compendium content.

Compendium pages have no ads - The tools and listings, whether populated with purchased content or not, will contain advertisements.
I would disagree that this is a bug. They have said compendium content. You can view all this information in two different formats, either in the compendium or in a specific category tab. Just because the lucky feat is detailed in a different area of the site does not make it the compendium. You have to care what the breadcrumbs say because compendium content is specified in the compendium tab. If you leave that and are looking up information elsewhere you are not looking at compendium content. It is black and white, you are either looking at the compendium, or you are looking up a reference. If you are not in the compendium, then expect ads.
I think we will just need to wait for someone at DndBeyond, or a Mod to weigh in.
Subsistcyber weighed in while I was writing this up. Compendium content is indeed separate from other areas and only compendium pages are ad free.
I appreciate that's the intent and I'm not arguing with that. But we've seen in this thread that it doesn't always work as designed. Here's what you see if you try to view the details of the Lucky feat without having purchased the PHB: https://imgur.com/uto43wy The feat details are part of the PHB. THEY ARE COMPENDIUM PAGES. I should not be seeing ads on pages that required a purchase of Compendium content!
The Nothic is a different situation, because it's also viewable without purchasing LMoP. It's still a bit annoying, since the monster description in the print version of LMoP doesn't have ads on it. But I'm more inclined to let that one slide. The feat details seem fairly clear-cut. If you have to purchase the PHB to view a page, then that page should not have ads on it.
EDIT: from the FAQ text: "... if you purchase the Player's Handbook, you can browse that content, without seeing a single advert, regardless of whether you are paying for a subscription." The Lucky feat is content from the Player's Handbook.
But the whole point is you need to be viewing it in the compendium. In that specific section. That screenshot you should is not the compendium. As I have stated and posted from the faq, as well as the moderator who posted before me. There will be no ads on the Compendium. There will be ads in Characters - Feats tab.
That's not what the FAQ says. The FAQ says that if you buy the PHB, you can view all the content from the PHB without a single ad. Never mind the URL -- is there any way to view that page WITHOUT buying the PHB?
Moving this conversation to its own thread. Right now for listings the advertisements are working as intended. Putting this in the feedback thread will allow more discussion on the removal of ads in all purchased content, including listings.
I’m a bit unclear on the definition of a “listing.” How is a page with the details of an individual feat (which is not viewable unless you purchase the PHB) considered a “listing?”
If I have to buy the PHB to view this page, then how is it not considered Compendium content? How do you justify showing ads on a page I had to pay to view?

You can view all the content from the PHB without a single ad. By going to the Compendium. No you cannot view compendium without buying the source first. The compendium and the reference areas are two different things. Go the the PHB, Feats, not feat listing, and you will see all the feats available like you have the book in front of you. Anywhere else you go is outside of that book. You get an ad free experience on that source, not the website. What you are asking for is basically a loophole to not pay for a subscription. The compendium is your source book, the rest is the website that can show you that information in a different way outside of the source. You go outside of the source then you have to expect ads. If you dont want ads then stay in the compendium.
Characters - Feats is a reference. (Ads)
Compendium - Rules - Players handbook is a compendium source (no ads)
How am I looking for a loophole? I’m only talking about content that I had to purchase as part of the PHB. Based on the FAQ, it’s perfectly reasonable to expect all that content to be ad-free. The FAQ you pointed to doesn’t say anything about whether you’re viewing PHB content in one format or another.
The parent directory is a listing, but the page itself is PHB content! The listing REQUIRES you to buy the PHB to get to the next page! Honestly... how is this so hard to understand?

I am also getting banner ads on purchased content, such as the feats from the PHB. Here's an example, cropped to avoid any copyright issues.

So, is there anyway to filter search results to ONLY come from compendium links?
I'm sorry, but the idea that there are ads anywhere, when I am signed into my account that has the legendary package, is ridiculous.
