I want to be able to buy an entire book just filled with character drawings and paintings by class and species, maps, rooms, caves, scenery, monsters, and have all of it done by various real artists and no A.I. Just a giant smorgasborg of real art to bring our adventure to life and to give me new ideas.
1. In Tooltips on character sheet when hovering mouse over modifier, include the calculation modifier (ie. show how the to-hit, damage, etc modifiers are aggregated). Helps people learn the game, plus allows for debugging of homebrew items.
2. In VTT - give DM ability to control (zoom/center) the player screen -- not giving the DM full control if players still want to look around, but at least letting me say "OK, here's where you are" and to pull everyone in to a specific spot. For me, I'm running a simple tabletop screen on an extended desktop, so none of my players can control the screen, so I have to stand up, break narrative and mouse around to zoom their screen.
3. Updated encounter builder - there are times when it's not on a map, but now I've gotta BS a map to run an encounter (or use the old one)
Also 4. In VTT - many adventures include modules with grid scales other than 5 ft. Would be nice if the maps could be overlaid with a 5ft grid
I need a more helpful search engine. I didn't know anything about 'Drowning'. I used the search up top and got a plethora of links from every book that had the word, but nothing about how it happens. Luckily, I pulled out my PHB printed in 2014 and looked it up. It is not there either. Then, a thought made me look up 'Hold Breath', where it says 'See Suffocating'. Found it. It would have been so much easier if your search engine didn't have to be so verbatim with the books.
À la carte is so missed by everyone. You say you want to help DMs, most of us already have the books or most content in one way or another. Being able to provide what individuals players need for their characters is sometime the difference between them using dnd beyond or not.
Also, having other languages for dnd beyond. Seems like it should have been done years ago.
Yeah I'm missing the ability to buy pieces of books via ala-carte. As it's been said I don't need most of the stuff. We don't even know why it was removed,as it's been radio silence since it was removed.

They mentioned in a reddit AMA recently that it was due to performance issues with having to check increasingly large and complex sets of licenses every time the character builder needed to show lists of things people might or might not have access to.
I honestly haven't missed the A La Carte itself, but I do miss being able to see the additional contents of a book, without opening the phone app. Does it really have 300 monsters, or 200 NPCs and 100 monsters that are 3 reflavours of one MM monster each.
There are a variety of things I want as I'm always building homebrew for my players and a lot of workarounds only fix a few of the problems, so I'll name a few:
-The ability to create Homebrew classes (Without this, I'm forced to run modified subclasses that rely on overwriting features of the base class and then in turn take a very long time to implement in a complex manner.) -More options when creating weapons. I'd like to create a base weapon that isn't inherently magical or some sort of single feature item. I can't use two abilities on a weapon, rather I'm forced to create multiple instances and manually add in the abilities often with dedicated feats to accomplish my task (Transforming weapons for example) -The ability to go beyond level 20 for a player allowing them to reach at least the level 30 threshold (Anything my players want post level 20 must be built in the form of feats specially curated to accomplish this task. They get cluttered very fast) - A Library where I can provide lore for the players to reference information of the world, NPCs, Side Quests, etc. with key notes to help keep lore updated and helpful for players (I utilize a spreadsheet and Discord server currently to accomplish this task). -The ability to set Permalock on Death saves. I run DND where death saves are permanent but every time players long rest, they need to set how many fails they have (My workaround is the spreadsheet) -An alliance tracker (spreadsheet) -A visible shop option for players with cost of items (spreadsheet) -A visible guide to show all curses for DM reference (multiple tabs on my browser at all times.) -ability to add assets on map that's not an obvious circle (this complicates hiding some things in plain sight when players interact with maps). -option to toggle a 2014 and 2024 variant of a background, species etc. (homebrew)via linking without having to keep them completely separate as it floods the selections. -Custom tag options -Custom Creature type options -Custom Damage types (This is partially done, though it needs worked on) -Traps on map that trigger and target player HP -Visibility for players properly adjusted based on view properties (Like Foundry) -Utilization of light to follow with the previously mentioned view. (I can't hide the map from two people who might not have dark vision where the other person might have devil sight. This complicates immersion in the world). -Integration of Encounter Builder into Maps for ease of access rather than toggling multiple tabs
There are more for sure, but these are the immediate hurdles, I'd say I like fixed.
Is 'Devil' Sight' even part of D&D Beyond Map, as it is not part of the 2024 PHB rules?
Devil's Sight is an Eldritch Invocation in both the 2024 and 2014 rules. However, as of this writing Maps VTT does not have any support for any lighting or vision effects.
I'd like a good customer service road, I am an extremely loyal 54-year-old loyal consumer who owns the intertie of the 5E digital library including some physical products, every 3.0 & 3.5 product ever printed with nearly all 2nd ed and a lot of Basic... hell I still have my bubble gum dice from the OG box set. This is not a brag, just a statement, I feel a little betrayed and ignored after years and YEARS of brand loyalty. sorry... ranting & digressing...
How about the ability to create homebrew classes? We can do subclasses, why not class?
The regular response is that classes are all custom code, so new classes would require opening up the back end to custom user code, which is unlikely to ever happen.
Id like to see, within the conditions section, a spot where contamination levels are marked sort of like the exhaustion meter. Along with all effects in that chart, when active, calculated into the character sheet. ie: posioned = disadvantage etc
It's been said before but I'll say it again: the character sheet needs a "Concentrating" button/toggle, and a custom-field near Conditions where you could write-in magical or unusual effects (Blessed, Hasted, Slowed, etc.). Without these Visible on the front page of the sheet, I find players forget parts of which effects are active during combat quite frequently.
I'd like to have encounters interface between tokens.
Example:
I would be able to right click my token, select the option to attack, after selecting the opponent DnD Beyond would roll the dice for the attack\action that I selected. With that would show on screen if it was a hit/success or a miss/failure. In case of a hit it would open the option to roll for damage, showing the roll and the damage it would discount automatically from the opponent hit points...
Just one example...

2 things.
Ala Carte Back!!! I don't need or want most of the stuff in the books.
The ability to sort or separate characters into folders.

"use" button on consumable items, like health potions prompting dice for HP.
I'd like to "reveal" custom images.
I would like Status effects/conditions to be tied to tokens in Maps
