If your setting has genders, then make your character’s gender the same as their sex if you want the character to be cisgender, or have their gender be the opposite of their sex if you want them to be transgender.
The logic behind people's concerns over crossplay is super faulty. It's like, if you're not a ranger or fighter or cleric etc irl, then you have zero justification playing one. Cringeeeeee
Nobody's said anything about not being able to roleplay a gender other than your own. My concern, and I explicitly said I wasn't suggesting the OP was necessarily going to be like this, comes from a few negative experiences with insensitive and downright offensive portrayals of other genders (sometimes mixed with other sexual orientations). This doesn't work for every table. Those bad experiences have been rare and seem to be getting more rare as time passes (fortunately), but not non-existent.
Other than that, this thread feels kind of like me telling you all I'm getting my hair done and asking if I should ask for it to be cut really short or not and if anyone has other ideas, without any of you knowing who I am or what I look like. It's just a weird thing to ask without context.

Dragon(born). Not a blue boy dragon, nor a pink girl dragon. A green dragon, y'know, the normal kind. Pfft, crazies trying to force Censor bars onto dragons.

I mean, I get it. But there's plenty of times where people get offended over things that can be super trivial where no one else is affected. Many times those cases are a "you" problem rather than that "person acting out a character" problem. My issue with all that is it ends up hurting creativity because everyone starts walking on eggshells. Imagine if everyone was vocal about a trait, action, or flaw they didn't like or that triggered them. D&D would be unplayable.
Playing a perfect game with improvisational roleplaying when you're dealing with imperfect people is impossible. Issues are inevitable and it's on the maturity of all players to work things out.
I believe people tend to try their best and usually have no ill intentions.
Also the fact that you think this thread is weird is a completely useless opinion that doesn't need to be shared. Let the person post what they want and carry on without being judgmental over something as silly as this simple and straightforward thread.

A Drow wizard? Screams male to me if they are from the underdark noble houses.
