Has this gone anywhere? I would really love to see Dndbeyond use slack for their Roll20 alternative system for hosting games, and if it included voice channels like Discord, that would be even better! I'm looking to get away from Discord, and Slack looks like an amazing system for that.
Roll20 has nothing to do with DDB, they are completely separate companies.
"Roll20 Alternative"
Read above, there has been more interest in Discord than Slack so they are working on that for now.
That's unfortunate. As much as I like Discord. China has gotten it's hands on it, and considering Discord doesn't even have a funding model yet, I think it's reasonable to expect that they're going to use it for data collection, A-la facebook, but this time it's China collecting the data, instead of just facebook.
The exact reasons I use neither Facebook nor Discord.
We have some internal Slack stuff going on, where the players can type as their characters in some of our campaigns and I as the DM can type as any NPC, etc.
We just have that for fun for our use. What would people like to see out of integration if we did something publicly?
I would love for that, @BadEye! I've been using Slack for my campaigns for a couple of years, but a full DDB connection would be incredible!

Fully Homebrew Campaign, feel free to explore it! I'm actually about to run a campaign and have been considering using Slack as a back-channel (rather than run the whole thing in Slack). Here are some uses I'm thinking about:
1- A way to role play between sessions. Keep things going in the downtime. 2- Set up specific channels that characters with special abilities are members of. Example: 2 players have characters with night vision, and see something in the dark that the rest of the party can't. Instead of pulling them aside or announcing to the whole table what they saw, communicate it through the #nightvision channel, via text or even via imagery. Then the players themselves can announce "I see something!", feels more spontaneous and immersive as a result. 3- Direct messaging for when the DM or player needs to communicate to another player secretively.
I'm sure I'll think of more, but I'm going to give this a shot. Obviously some level of integration would be amazing, especially with compendium content.
I've used Slack for a few campaigns in my school's TTG Club, mostly for either notification of events or as a means of continuing the story in the downtime (I've had a running character journal through a set channel that others can look into and see what the character is thinking. When they were in a seeming time-loop, their journal was a way to keep them sane).
