So, each adventure has featured a specific race or type of creature. Devils in BG:DiA, Dragons in ToD, Fey in WBtW, Giants in SKT, etc. The only types of creature left over are Aberrations (correct me if I'm wrong). Though, WOTC could do a adventure featuring a humanoid race such as Orcs (am I the only one who wants to see a Many-Arrows adventure?). So, let's speculate about aberrations. Will it be one type of aberration (Mind Flayers, Aboleths) or just them all (which would be pretty hard to do, IMO). Do we have any clues from other adventures? Hints from WOTC writers?
Elementals are featured pretty heavily in the Elemental Evil set of adventures (I assume). Aberrations have yet to make a full spotlight appearance but they feature pretty heavily in Mad Mage.
The thing is, some types of monsters don't exist at every challenge rating. Devils have tons of variation, but aberrations are largely mid- to high-level enemies. Humanoids are all low-level. This isn't a hard limitation but it definitely affects the designs of adventures.
There's also undead (Curse of Strahd) and constructs. Also, don't forget about celestials! I would be interested in a celestial-fighting adventure. I'm sure there's a way to make that work where it doesn't reawaken the Satanic Panic.

You’re right, I forgot PotA and constructs. I doubt they will do a adventure featuring constructs though, since they are mostly mindless bash-machines. A celestial-fighting adventure would be interesting, and it’s a definite possibility.
Not constructs, but maybe going back to the prior editions Modrons adventures or throwing the aberrations into some sort of planar blender. I really don't see a crusade against celestials in the cards, unless the "non violent" options in Wild Beyond the Witchlight prove exceedingly popular and the PCs are tasked to aid some dispute among the "good guys," with maybe a rouge Empyrean behind the scenes stoking the tensions.

I would love a Great Modron March book, but also Inevitables! The Marut is one of my favorite monsters, and I hope to one day be able to TPK a wannabe lich and crew with one.
Each adventure really revolves around a core theme. Not so much monsters (there's an argument for that, but then we have outliers such as Dragon Heist). Anyway, taking each overarching adventure separately (excluding anthologies), we have the following basic monster themes:
ToD: Dragons
EE: PotA: Elementals
RoD:OotA: Fiends (Demons)
CoS: Undead
SKT: Giants
ToA: Undead: VGtM
W:DH: Humanoids (tenuous): XGtE
W:DotMM: Aberrations (tenuous)
BG:DiA: Fiends (Devils): MToF: Baldur's Gate 3
ID:RotF: Humanoids/Beasts (tenuous): Dark Alliance
WBtW: Fey: TCoE
As such, Aberrations, Beasts, and Humanoids have only been slightly touched on, and Celestials, Constructs, Monstrosities, Oozes, and Plants have been untouched. However, I see less likeliness that a WotC adventure would revolve around Monstrosities, Oozes, or Plants, and Celestials and Constructs also seem dubious.
Additionally, adventures have often been tied in with previous sourcebooks somewhat (shown in bold above), so the next adventure could (and quite likely will) be tied in with Fizban or Dragons. Also, adventures have sometimes tied into future games and media from the next year (known ones shown underlined above), so the other bet is the 2022 adventure will be set in Neverwinter and relates in some way to the D&D Film.
Dragons in Neverwinter. Oh, that sounds so generic. But that's my bet.

Most dragons in 5e adventures have also been in earlier editions, so I’m going to go check Wyrms of the North from 3e to look for dragons in the Neverwinter region. Will post my findings on here.
EDIT: Hey it’s near the FR location of the Sunless Citadel! Maybe Ashardalon (may favourite dragon of all time) will be in it!

Awesome 😊. That sounds like a great idea.
On the GoS, I said Overarching adventures. GoS is an anthology, and so not counted.
Strixhaven. It's primarily an adventure book. 2/3rds adventure.
I forgot about that one since they stopped hyping it cause Witchlight came out… I will continue researching dragons (all the dragons near Neverwinter have already been featured; Chardansearavitriol, Voaraghamanthar, and Claugiliamatar. Those are all probably misspelled. I suppose Hoondarrh is an option, but he’s pretty far away.. but I suppose it’s possible. He got mentioned a lot in SCAG).

Consider that dragons exist between universes. The fearsome Bingalodothedummy might teleport in from another universe under the influence of the Cult of Dragons
Also, how did you forget STRIXHAVEN, a book pushing me through all sorts of financial and hopeful woe.
So, there is one more dragon that it could be. It’s just one reference in TFtYP, and it seems unlikely at first blush. But once you look closer it seems more likely.
Nearly all of the 5e dragons have been from 3e. There’s been barely any 4e dragons featured, but tons of 3e dragons. And who was the biggest 3e dragon? Ashardalon. He had a whole board game about him, and the other two were about Strahd and Drizzt, two of the biggest d&d characters. He’s big. I’ve always wondered why there hasn’t been a Ashardalon adventure in 5e. I see people saying how much they love him on forums all the time. Maybe this is it. Ashardalon is certainly in popular demand. And The Sunless Citadel is right next door to Neverwinter.
Once you look closer, there’s a lot of hints. In all the adventures near Neverwinter, there has been a lot of blights. The Gulthias Tree has been sighted twice in the region, both in its original incarnation in the Sunless Citadel, and in DoIP. And who created blights? Ashardalon’s biggest captain, Gulthias! The Cult of the Dragon is active in the region, and according to TFtYP, they are the ones who worshipped Ashardalon. Is it possible, that before the Cult of the Dragon started on the whole Dracolich thing, they were the Cult of Ashardalon? That’s not in older lore, but we’ve seen no clear canon reference to the origin of the Cult of the Dragon in 5e (correct me if I’m wrong).
I think that a Ashardalon adventure is the next one up. It tied in with dragons, the fact that all the 5e dragons are from 3e and the biggest 3e dragon hasn’t got an adventure yet, and all the blight stuff in the Neverwinter region adventures.
(Course this could be me just seeing things that aren’t there, since I’m a massive Ashardalon fan).

I second the idea that they will do something featuring dragons. Not only because of Fizban's, but, also, ToD is very outdated rn.
HotDQ was released 7 years ago, I am pretty sure it's time to have a new adventure focusing dragons in a big way.
