I would highly doubt it. The UA Artificer is a class, and neither full class nor subclass homebrewing is an option here. Subclass homebrews will be available eventually, but probably not full class homebrew. If WOTC releases a revised UA Artificer, DDB will make it available here, but there's been no word on when/if that will be happening.
I was wondering if anyone managed to make a workable artificer character using the current homebew system. Like creating a custom race, background, magical item etc. that makes, let's say a wizard or fighter, close to an artificer.
I am fully aware you can't create homebrew classes/subclasses.
In other threads it has been said that the other UA classes that have not been included in DDB currently should be able to be homebrewed, the only way I've played around with is using the homebrew system to create a monster that is essentially one of these classes. Is there any ETA on a more reliable way to homebrew the older UA content?
This is really disappointing :( I was so excited just got the legendary bundle and shared it with my DM after finding out about DnDBeyond for the new campaign I'm joining. Went to roll up my character for the other campaign I'm in and tell my DM how cool DnD Beyond is and ... I can't make my other character :/
I understand the disappointment, but Artificer is a class from an Unearthed Arcana playtest that occurred 15 months ago.
Wizards of the Coast have concluded play test of the Artificer class though and deemed it to not be publishable in its current state.
It is however fairly popular, so I expect to see a newer version of Artificer in a future Unearthed Arcana (which will be added to D&D Beyond) or perhaps even in a published book.
It is possible to make a workable substitute by making homebrew magic items to represent class abilities.

Oh was this stated somewhere? Or just based on them not having published it already? I know I don't do a great job keeping super current on where everybody publishes news now >_<

You can create homebrew: backgrounds, feats, magic items, monsters, races & spells.
The ability to create homebrew subclasses is being developed currently.
The ability to create homebrew classes is not currently planned for development.
If Wizards of the Coast publish Artificer in a new Unearthed Arcana article, or in a published book, then it will be added to D&D Beyond then.

Sorry I must have worded it wrong.

My post from Feb 16th is still correct - there are no plans to introduce homebrew classes.

The problem I have is knowing what class to pick instead, was is the closest for Hit Dice, armour, weapons?
