I may have jumped the gun when purchasing a year of dndbeyond. Right now I have 2 characters that I want to put into the system and I started with the one that I play every week: a goblin artificer. I found a homebrew goblin race that looked exactly right to what I have on paper but it required a subscription... so I bought it. Now I need the class, but I don't see anything. Is UA content just not available?
Kind of feel like I tossed 26 bucks out the window.
Silly question then... is there any precedent for WoTC updating a class in UA before an official release? We just passed the 1 year anniversary for artificers with no new developments so it makes me wonder if one will appear on UA at all before it gets printed.
I do not know the answer to that question. Artificer and Mystic are the first new classes aside from the ones from the PHB, so I guess that the playtesting is still going on.

There has been word of them re-working the Artificer and Mystic classes, which came out around the same time. I ran a Mystic for playtesting that was a lot of fun, though he did have a few kinks. I think with these newer classes they want to make sure they are balanced before releasing them. Now, will they push out another rework on UA, that remains to be seen? I know for the world of Eberron you NEED Artificers and Mystics, and if they are ever going to release any supplements for that game they will need to perfect these classes. Thankfully, D&D hasn't half-assed anything so when they have them down they will release them. I guess it's just a matter of waiting for that. As someone who really enjoyed playing a Mystic, I feel your pain. I wish it was on here as well :(
As for your question about precedent, I do believe they went through 2 ranger builds on UA before releasing it. I could be wrong, it is early and I haven't had my coffee yet...lol regardless, I would love to see your goblin artificer build.

"...Debts must always be paid, sometimes in more than blood and gold. But this is Ordo Ursa," Ren places his hand on Erakas's chest, right where the Dragonborn's heart is. "Right here. And it always has been and always will be. Don't ever forget that. Because I won't."

Any update on this? I really want to play an Artificer (even if they don't gets some advantage on artificing things...I mean something that let them do specific items faster based on their subclass would awesome but I will take what I can get) in my current campaign but I can't even ad the UA version.

The lack of inflection in text means that a reader of any post adds their own inflection as they "verbalize" it in their head. I write long and repetitive in an effort to be clear and avoid my intent from being skewed or inverted. I am also bad at examples. It is common for people to skim my posts pull out the idea they think I mean or want to argue against or focus on my bad example instead of the point I am actually trying to make. I apologies for the confusion my failure to be clear and concise creates.

You can create subclasses and items, though neither works well for this. Primary reason is proficiencies as there is no way I’m aware of to remove existing proficiencies. Ie base it on a wizard and remove Wisdom saving throws, or on a rogue and remove Dex, and a skill. You also can’t remove base class progression stuff, so you have to create all the progression items over again and somehow mark them as the valid ones. No way to change hit dice either. I added 1hp per level to represent the average difference between d6 and d8...

You can homebrew the goblin yourself, so you can use it in the builder.
UA material is available on DDB only for the articles starting from January 2018.

Mike Mearl's Happy Fun Hour recently has been going over and revising the Mystic (now Psion)
I don't know about the artificer, but I feel like it will be coming some time soon. Character options often come in November.
