Does anyone who watched the video on the homepage, Character Builder and Generic Feature System Updates, have a short summary? Not watching the 34 minute video.
Watched enough of the video to get the news that it's not so much 'we have updates to share' as 'we're going to talk about this monthly in an attempt to convince people it's real, no matter whether we have any updates to share or not'. Unsure if there was anything else, I immediately lost interest and stopped watching at that point.

It was more about the framework of the system they work with then actual content for users.
It is a good thing necessary for long awaited features and people just need to be patient with it…
I know that. You know that. Smart people know that. Doesn't mean they haven't been talking about it for close to three years now, since before Tasha's Cauldron released. Some people are gonna lose patience. It's inevitable. Game devs are lucky if the average gamer can wait three months, let alone three years.

You will likely see the updates in 2024 with the new edition of the PHB.*
At some point, the scope creep needs to end, and something of substance needs to actually be made. They seem to be doing a lot of things on the back-end, paying off tech debt, but have nothing to show for it as far as the end user is concerned. They need to pick something and complete it. DDB's "new features" are a entire neighborhood of half-built houses. Finish one so we can actually move in please. Even if it's not a feature I personally would get excited about, get something, anything, over the finish line. I'm so tired of new shinies for the character sheet, and sponsored campaigns, but nothing of substance changing in the site's core functionality.
Yep, they had a lot of tech debt to cover, switching everything over to the new system while the old system was still running. A closer analogy is rebuilding the foundations of all the houses we've been living in with our furniture and possessions this whole time while we were still in them. Pretty amazing they managed it without borking up everybody's stuff, aside from some hiccups.
Apparently their first test of the GFS will be implementing Epic Boons.

Its always like this, and then they’ll come out with a bunch of stuff all right after the other. You wait and see.

It should be more like making a identical-looking house with a better foundation, because (I hope) they weren't working on the live system. And then they took all of our furniture, drugged us while we were sleeping, kidnapped us, moved us to the new house before we came to, and then snuck back out before the sun came up.
They probably did some pre-testing of database changes and such before making them live, but yes, it was on the live system. In incremental steps, every few weeks or so, depending. (Or so I could tell from what changes seemed to be happening.)

I am closely following the updates and was very positive for a very long time about what they do but as of now. I am tired of the devupdates and the constant ads for new stuff like dice and cosmetics but a flaming sword with 1d6 fire damage on top of the normal damage the sword does, still doesn't work (it only rolls the sword's damage not the fire damge).
This is only one of many examples that should be core and the start bringing out an optional rule with epic boons? With most games never getting over level 10? I just can't see the logic behind that.
If you install a browser extension you can roll every dice expression on the site but the original site can't do it is just a riffle for me.
They are probably starting with Epic Boons because (1) it's a relatively simple feature to implement (very similar to Feats), (2) has been a thing since the DMG was published, (3) if it works then so will Dark Gifts, Charms, and many other similar things. Basically the proof of concept.

But you know, in a not creepy way.
