You can climb a tree without a climbing speed. It can climb at a pace of 15 feet per move, which honestly should be the top speed of the thing everywhere if we're trying to be realistic about how fast a caterpillar is.

Yes. Reduces it's base walking speed to 20 feet, and give it a climbing speed of 20 feet.

Do you think that maybe the pest should have a climbing speed of some kind considering it's a ferret sized caterpillar?
Seems odd that the creature depicted as climbing a tree in its picture and is meant to be a little grappler is technically unable to climb easily.
Yeah, they probably should have a climbing speed of about 20ft.. But it's not a big deal, you can just retcon and say they have a climbing speed.
