Hi Y'all, I believe I have gotten everything on the store (stuff on pre-order too), however I still see the Critter Bundle, and the Critter Beyond Bundle. Is there something new in those bundles That I may not have?
I see the Critter bundles in the marketplace too and I definitely own every book. I think they just aren't automatically hidden from view once you own, e.g., the Legendary Bundle like the other bundles are.
i think dnd beyond did very good job til now on how it treated the whole thing. You need only magic items 3 euros and you can have them. later on you can buy the book without rebuing them agen. it helped me a lot as a DM and the content share worked like a charm. Nicely done to the dnd beyond team. hope to see more!
I have bought the essentials kit and bought the Players Handbook on DND Beyond. I just started playing with a bunch of newbies and a friend of mine is the DM. If she gets the master tier subscription and enables content sharing, will she be able to access my players handbook and campaigns?
I think this is preferable to me getting the master tier subscription. If she gets it, she can use the combat tracker. Or does enable content sharing within your campaign also enable acces to the combat tracker for everyone?

They can access any content you have unlocked on this site.

Thanks for your reply! Just to be clear: does access to the Combat Tracker count as shareable content? If i get a subscription and enable content sharing within a campaign, will all the others players (and the DM in this case) be able to access it?

No, the Master Tier subscription only shares purchased/owned content. (Private homebrew is shared even without a subscription; I don't remember how it works for public homebrew that you add to your collection.)
The combat tracker is currently in alpha testing for subscribers only, but will eventually be rolled out to be accessible by everyone.
I have a hero level sub. I also bought the PHB through DDB. That's $60 worth of pixels. I am running a campaign, but it looks like I cannot share the PHB with my players. That limits them on their character choices. Bummer.
Questions:
1. If my players buy the PHB for themselves through DDB, will they be able to use its content in my campaign?
2. I have created more than 6 characters on my account. I have to cancel my current subscription in order to upgrade to Master. Will I lose any of the content I have created when I cancel? This is a big deal for me, so please be very careful that you understand my question, thanks! :)

Hi Waargrin,
You are correct in your understanding that a Hero level sub does NOT allow you to share your content within a campaign. You need to upgrade to Master for that. Once you do, you will see a toggle within your campaign to turn on content sharing for your players (who must also be in the campaign.) Please also note that while they will be able to access the PHB under "Sources" up at the top of the page and read it there, as well has having that content available in the applicable sections under "Game Rules", they will only be able to use your PHB content to create characters within the campaign when they join it using the link you send them. It will not be available for any other characters they create.
When you cancel your Hero sub and upgrade to Master you won't loose any of your characters. no worries there, and nothing you need to do.
If I purchase a few books now, can I get credit for those purchases if I later buy the Sourcebook bundle?
Yes. What you pay for the individual sourcebooks will be automatically applied as a discount if you later decide to get the sourcebook or legendary bundles.

Someone else already answered your questions, but I just wanted to point out regarding #2 that if you're currently a Hero Tier subscriber and need to "upgrade" your subscription, you can reach out to customer service and they can help you through the process (you might not need to actually cancel and resubscribe): https://dndbeyond.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=602788
At least, that's what I've seen DDB staff/mods recommend when the issue has come up before :)
If I purchase a few books now, can I get credit for those purchases if I later buy the Sourcebook bundle?
Yep, as Cyb3rM1nd said - note that the same is true if you buy individual parts of a book right now, and decide to get the full book later.
For instance, if you buy just the gith race from Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes for $2 or so at first, then decide you want the full book (both compendium content and the a la carte content for use in the other tools) later, then the price of the full Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes book will be discounted by $2 (the price you've previously paid for the content from that book that you've already bought).
This way, you're never paying for the same thing on DDB more than once! :)
I am trying to get the most character options for the cheapest, what’s the best way to do that? I’d like some books, but don’t care too much about which ones.
I am trying to get the most character options for the cheapest, what’s the best way to do that? I’d like some books, but don’t care too much about which ones.
The two books with the most character options are the Players Handbook (aka PHB) and Xanathar’s. If I remember correctly, buying all the character options from the PHB is almost the same cost as buying the PHB outright. With Xanathar’s you might be better off just buying the subclass, feats, and spells bundles. I own it here, so I can’t see the pricing anymore.
Aside from those two books, where buying the whole thing is/might be worth it, if all you are interested in is character options, you are best off purchasing the bundles of races, subclasses, etc. Every “sourcebook” has some character options. Some of those overlap. A few of the adventure books do as well, mostly backgrounds specific to the adventure.
So I'm trying to understand the "sharing" option of the Master tier subscription before purchasing. Can I share the public homebrew access option? Also, how does it exactly work?
So I'm trying to understand the "sharing" option of the Master tier subscription before purchasing. Can I share the public homebrew access option? Also, how does it exactly work?
Firstly, you don't need a subscription to share homebrew in your collection, that can be done without a sub. However you do need a sub to save public homebrew to your collection and thus to share it in campaigns. This can be done with a hero or master tier (as any sub lets you save public homebrew)
As for what the Master Tier sub does and how content sharing works; if you have a Master Tier sub, you will see an 'enable content sharing' button in the campaigns you're in (assuming that they don't already have it enabled). You don't need to be a DM to enable this option, and once you do all paid content owned by everyone in the campaign will be shared with everyone else in the campaign.
This means:
They can access the compendium content for all shared books
Characters they make in the campaign will have access to all the shared options.
You can enable content sharing this way in up to three campaigns normally (although it's up to five through the end of May).
It's important to note that you neither need to be the DM, nor own any content, to enable and benefit from content sharing this way; all content is shared with everyone.
The DM can however use the content management menu to toggle what is and is not shared, although this won't stop people from being able to access content they've paid for themselves
Awesome, thanks so much! Very informative! Now my only other question would be; does this all translate through to the discord bot? I'm completely new here, haven't even done anything with the campaigns but I actually discovered Avrae first, in attempts to make roleplaying on Discord easier. But I kept running into the problem of paywalls and such, so that's when i found myself here.

If you link your DDB account with your discord account, yes. Click on your username in the upper right of the browser screen, choose account, and you will see the linking screen.

The FAQ doesn't mentions access to the tools: https://dndbeyond.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115011257067 so i'm just double checking.
