I assume there is currently no way to homebrew non-magic items on D&D Beyond? For example, if you wanted to add a new poison to the game, but it's not actually magical. Or a new non-magical item of clothing (tri-corner hat, non-magical boots with hidden compartment, etc.)?
Or just make what you need directly on your sheet.

For your boots, I was start with a bag of holding so that it shows up on your character sheet as a place that stuff can be stored in. I wanted saddlebags for the players so they could store stuff in them, started with BoH, and it worked fine.
Nothing wrong with creating a 'magic item' that has no magical abilities.
Or a magic poison that does CON save DC 12, 1d6 of damage.
Is there a way to mark whether it is magic or not magic? Let's say you make a new weapon but it's not actually magic, like a Kusarigama. Then your player has one and uses it in combat, and the enemy is immune to non-magic weapons. It's a "Magic" Item but not Magic? Very confusing.
What you can do is take a non magical item on your character then change its name and description and some properties - it shows up on your sheet as that new item. If you want it to be a container then you have to start with an item ( like a sack) that already is a container. Of course you have to do this separately for eac character that has it. If you want a permanent item you can select then you you have to make a homebrew magic item with no magic.
I know this is kind of an old thread, but If I wanted to add a homebrewed weapon that I could give to players, which would show up in their actions, how would I do that?

What's the weapon?
One thing I did in a case where the DM wanted a custom weapon for the campaign was to homebrew a copy of the race I was playing and add the weapon as a racial feature. (If memory serves, I looked at the Elemental Evil Aarakocra which has a talons racial attack feature and used that as the basis upon which to figure it out.)
So if you have access to the races of the players, copying them and adding the weapon as if it were a racial feature could be one way of doing it.

Just making a custom action on your sheet seems simpler. No homebrew copies needed, no modifiers etc. Just there on your sheet, make the action - set attack and damage how you want, type in effects, set any saving throws, etc. All on your sheet. Much easier and faster.

Oh wow. I didn't even realize that was an option. That's great! (Really wish I'd know this some months ago when I was going through that homebrew-process.)

Yeah, you have to go through the magic item creator.
But really, except for the name, it's just the item creator.
You can create custom items within a character sheet, but you can't really share them.
Birgit | Shifter | Sorcerer | Dragonlords
Shayone | Hobgoblin | Sorcerer | Netherdeep
You can make the item using homebrew tools.
Or just make what you need directly on your sheet.

You can put anything you want in the description field.

In other words, no, there is no way to make mundane non-magic items besides creating a homebrew Magic Item

what do you call a magic item with no magical properties...
Do you know how I change a non magical item's damage?
I direct you to the homebrew FAQ linked in my signature. Also, better to look in the homebrew section of the forums for homebrew stuff anyway.
