I'm a bit confused on how ''Unassigned Characters'' work and i'm sure you know much more than i do right now...
I have unlocked all the content on dndbeyond, so what happens if i create an unassigned character for a user that has no content unlocked at all?
He will be able to take control of that character i created with my unlocked content? He will be able to modify it or add items as we progress on the sessions?
Just one more small clarification, if i create an Unassigned Character that was created with only the free content he will be able to take control of the character or a Master Tier subscription is still needed?
After you add a character to a campaign (or create one within a campaign), there is the option to "unassign" that character on the campaign page.
If you unassign it, that allows another member of the campaign to claim the character as their own - it is now, for all intents and purposes their own character.
This is mostly useful for DMs pre-generating characters.
So as a clarification if I create a character with all of my books but DON'T enable content sharing can a player that owns no books take control of the character?

I believe so, but they likely won't be able to level the character up, and if they are a caster they will probably only have access to the SRD/Basic Rules spells.
if i bought the content, and dont have subscription, i can't use content shareing with my players for my campaign?
Correct. To share content, you or one of your players needs a Master Tier subscription. Even if it’s a player, your content will be shared if they are in your campaign and they turn on content sharing. Normally a Master Tier sub lets the subscriber turn on content sharing for 3 campaigns, but due to COVID-19 and the need for “social distancing,” DDB has increased that to 5 through the end of May.
You can only create unassigned characters if you've got a character slot open. If you've not got a subscription, this button will deactivate once you have six characters. This is because when you create an unassigned character, it's add to your character list even though you've not claimed it
I'm just starting out with D&D Beyond (really, just staring out with D&D). Playing through Lost Mines of Phandelver with my sons, and have them each playing a character with me playing 2 additional characters who are pretty much just along for the ride. I just created my two additional DM-controlled characters and am trying to add them to the campaign but can't seem to figure out how to do that. Every time I try to add an unassigned character, it takes me to the character builder. But I've already built the characters I want to add. How do I add these two characters as unassigned?
Figured it out, or, at least a work around. I just copied the invite link to the campaign and sent it to myself. Then, I added the two characters I previously made, so they now appear in the campaign. All set, I think.

yep, that's the way to do it. Glad you figured it out.
One of my players in my game has open character slots, isn't a subscription owner, and yet is still not allowed to make an unassinged character. Is this just a glitch or are we missing something?
I believe you have to create a character and then join a campaign via the campaign link. I think the create unassigned character only works for the DM. Not 100% on that last part though.

If you also have a Master Tier subscription and enable content sharing on the campaign, yes.

Wow that was fast!
Thank you for the answer =D

Is there a way as DM to unassign a character claimed by a player?
So as a clarification if I create a character with all of my books but DON'T enable content sharing can a player that owns no books take control of the character?

Sorry, but is it normal for the Create Unassigned Character button to disappear from a campaign's page? If so, where can I find it?

I've seen non dms use that button before. Heck I've used that option before when I wasn't the dm
