As the holiday season is upon is, regardless of what particular religious or social practices one follows, the idea of bestowing and receiving presents becomes prevalent.
So...what are some ideas for the fellow TTRPG player in your family or circle of friends? What about that one great DM who's been there through the big campaign, what would they like? Or perhaps for a novice who maybe doesn't know there's a gamer waiting on the inside?
Heck, even in-game ideas idea would be fun for those campaigns that play through during the holidays.
What are some gift ideas related to DnD or role-play or group gatherings in general? Anyone have something extra special in mind they plan to unleash on their own friends and family?
Gemstone dice are my go-to D&D gifts. Nice dice are one of those things a player can never really have too many of, making them a gift the other person is likely to both use and enjoy.
If your DM uses miniatures, a selection of those make a great gift for the DM - providing both an upgrade to their game and the entertainment of painting them.
Seconding dice, especially if your recipient knows other gamers, they can be re-gifted if the recipient already has [cough] a lot of dice. Drive Thru RPG or DMs Guild gift certificates would be good in a pinch if you're really stuck.
A second crate of your favorite player/DM’s drink.
Dice are nice, but something the player doesn’t have will be best. If they have standard, get them some sharps. Cheaper than the gems but still draw the eye.
Don’t buy gifts for people just because they dm games that you play in, unless you would have been buying for them anyway. It’s cheesy and can be very awkward. I have had to politely decline several over the years to avoid even the suggestion of bias and favouritism. It makes for a very uncomfortable situation.

I would probably take the above with a grain of salt. A DM is someone you likely spend a fair bit of time with, which easily puts them into the category where they are someone you "would have been buying for" anyway. Frankly, if one's group is so concerned about bias that a small holiday gift might result in accusations of favoritism, there is already some sort of unhealthy breakdown in the DM-Player dynamic indicative of far greater problems within the campaign. This strikes me more as unhealthy levels of paranoia born either of problematic DMing, a DM who does not feel confident in their own ability to avoid bias, overly sensitive players, or some mix of the above, and not as a real problem.
It should be stated that, if you are playing in an online group, it can be a bit awkward if you want to get a gift for a DM you do not know in-person and who does not want to give out their home address. You can mitigate a lot of this awkwardness by being careful in how you ask the question, making it seem like it is not too big of a deal and you would not be crestfallen if they say no.
Bribe the DM with a coffee mug with a kobold on it. Trust me bro. >:3
There's also this one "Kobold Dice Bag" thing that looks really cute, and I think most DMs/players will enjoy. It's this foot-tall kobold thief plush that's holding a bag out, as if to say "put all the shinies in the sack!" It can run a bit pricey, but it's got enough room for a ton of dice, and makes a snuggly addition to any table. Hell, if you ask nicely, the DM could even turn the kobold into a party mascot or something, to help carry around the party's loot for them. Just... keep an eye on him, or he might run away with all your shinies. XD
I always look for things that I can add onto the group if I am looking for christmas stuff for my campaign groups, now if it's a single person dices as stated previous is the way t go, maybe a custom mini of their favorite character. Perhaps custom status trackers or trinkets, a playmat, or even a drawing of their character is a nice gesture. Heck you could make a gift and say it's from one of your characters to another. XD
