I'm currently working on a new character. my group decided to draw lots on making a character based on a fairy tale, i drew red riding hood. i have the name and race down but cant decide on a class. Any ideas insights or suggestions are welcome.
Nope. Red Riding Hood mistook a talking wolf in a dress for her grandmother. This character is not allowed to have a positive Insight score.
RRH is sorta well known for exactly two things - the eponymous hood and being extremely gullible. Neither of these suggests a character class. RRH has no skills and no personality beyond obeying her mother and hauling around cookies. Gonna be difficult.
Depending on the rules of the build, you may want to take inspiration from the rest of the tale and make her a barbarian. RRH as a brute with a logging greataxe could be a fun riff. Alternatively riff on RWBY and do a high-agility Dexy fighter. Or, go Brothers Grimm and realize that the only way the Wolf could have pulled this off was if Fey Bullshit was going down and lean into Archfey warlock for more Fey Bullshit. Perhaps Red learned disguise and deception magic such as Mask of many Faces and Misty Visions after being eaten by a wolf and cut free of it by a barbarian logger? That's the sort of thing that tends to shift one's worldview, really.

Hmm... I see your creative takes and will meet you with a Red who was gifted with the pelt of the Wolf that the woodsman blessed with primal magic. Her characteristic red hood now bears the visage of a snarling beast and grants her the power of a Path of the Beast Barbarian.
There was a cartoon, Hoodwinked, not bad kinda "kids movie but enough jokes for parents too" movies. It's pretty funny as far as those things go. I'd give it a watch for further ideas as to how Red could actually be a Inquisitive, the whole mistaking the wolf thing, she's pulling a Columbo. Don't make assumptions about Red.

okay the inspirations i took from it besides red riding hood were briar rose and scarlet robe both from the fable game.
my characters backstory is basically harkin rose (harkin gaelic for red) was out gathering herbs for his grand mother and mother. when he returned he found the home destroyed clawmarks and the half eaten corpses of his mother and grandmother. as well as fur. he took the fur to the local soothsayer and discovered they were attacked by werewolves so he took his mothers blood dyed cloak and his deceased fathers hunting axe and went to track down the werewolves that killed his mother and grandmother.

Oh damn, that's pretty a great backstory. If your table allows it, I'd also suggest the Blood Hunter, though it relies on Intelligence or Wisdom. A Paladin could also work, considering your ability scores.

Beast Master Ranger?
Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!

She can’t have a positive Perception either. Only she didn’t “haul around cookies,” it was cakes & wine. 😉

Might as well go full on Will Scarlet then. :). Outlaw background with connections to a noted faction.
