I kinda don't want to give WotC any more money but I like D&D Beyond for the character sheets. I own all the core books and such so I have full use of any book I need.
My Question is, if I keep D&D Beyond and not do a subscription to it, do I still get full use of the character sheets or do I get some kind of penalty like I can't do certain things with the character sheets if I don't have subscription. Basically I still want to let my players have full use of my D&D Beyond account for character sheets - for everything else we will use Roll20.
hmm another quest . . . if I go free to use for DDB, can all my players still access there own character sheets in the campaign I have the character sheets set up in?
If you own content on DDB, you can create the characters with the content you own, create a campaign, and then unassign the characters from yourself for others with an invite to the campaign to claim. They will retain all items currently on the character sheet once they've assigned the character to themselves. You might have to take the character back to do level-ups, but otherwise you'd be good. The above can all be done for free, you just only can have 6 characters at a time on a free account, so depending on how many players you have you might have to do creation/level-up piecemeal.

Keep in mind that you will not be able to level them up without the other material (unless you are using SRD subclasses).

Wouldn’t be able to share the books you bought on D&D Beyond with the other players. And you can only make a max of 6 characters.
So if your players don’t have the books or purchased options individually they will only have access to the SRD.
I don’t believe you can create a campaign that allows sharing characters or rules, without a Master Sub.
You can homebrew most character options and share those with the people in your campaigns for free.
