So far I have sorcerer as my class and when you select a Dragonborn race, it automatically gives you Draconic Ancestry (Silver Dragon), but when you pick the Sorcerer class you can choose your Dragon Ansestor, will that have any effect on my Dragon Ancestry? OR do I have to pick the same one?
Also remember, that the sorcerer ancestry gives you later on bonus damage with spells of the related damage type and you can gain resistance to that damage. So, an more optimized build would go for two different colors of dragon ancestry.

They are independent of each other.

When you select the Dragonborn race you can choose your ancestry too.
