I presume you mean, something other than the DDB app, instead of simply working the forums into the existing app.

I can't speak for Safari, but Chrome lets you view the forums in Desktop version. I use that version on my phone all the time, because the mobile site makes things like upvotes, PMs and notifications a chore.
I'm ok, I'm looking for an app. Mobile/desktop version on mobile is not adequate.
Could you elaborate on what functionality specifically you're missing then? I doubt such an app exists, but we might be able to recommend a helpful plugin or something if we know what you're after.
You asked what the best alternative is until they create an app for the forum. That’s the best alternative I know of. And I sincerely doubt they will ever create such an app.
General clean interface for mobile use, notifications in Dropbar, that's it really. I've tried a variety of mobile browsers, switching between mobile and desktop version. A forum app, in 2023 shouldn't be that high up on a shelf for a request. Just downloaded Taptalk, and it's reduced it's functions, you used to be able to plug in forums, so your mobile use would reflect if you looked in a desktop, but API items got in the way, but the concept of what Taptalk has would be great for a mobile app, even if it is seperate feom the dnd beyond app

If the desktop version of the site doesn't fulfill bold then I've got no suggestions for you. I've never used Taptalk.
So then you already have your answer, use taptalk. I do everything on DDB from my iPhone using nothing more than Safari. 🤷♂️ I don’t even use the DDB app that exists.
One thing I will give the DDB app props for is the search engine 🙂 Limiting my keyword search to a specific book is much easier there, at least for me!
Tapatalk doesn't have security accesses to add the forums in, like it used too, it only makes forums from the ground up now, no more plugins. I wish the search engine on the app could at least pinpoint to sources I at least own, or a function I could switch to control that.
Well, if tapatalk doesn’t work, then the next best thing would still be my suggestion. 🤷♂️ Tell me, what is it about using the browser you find so unacceptable? I don’t have any issues so I don’t understand the need for an app. Could you perhaps explain it to me?
I get that the browser offers the advantage of universal access and doesn't require additional installation. That's definitely a plus, however, I believe the trade-off for a dedicated app would be worth it. An app could offer a much more streamlined and intuitive experience. It could leverage the capabilities of mobile devices much better, providing smoother navigation, faster access to boards/conversations/messages and could generate more conversation in threads or even provide better access to for wotc/Hasbro to process surveys for data collection, and it's just my personal preference.
I'm not asking for an overhaul of the forum section, just plugging into an app so i don't have to turn the browser sideways, tilt my head and squint through one eye to read it.
There is no wrong answer here. There's no official app that includes forum support. Third party / browser solutions aren't sufficient for Dark_Jester89 and that's reasonable too.
The challenge is, what would you like to delay, in terms of D&D Beyond support, features, and planned work, for them to build and maintains support for the forums in the existing app, or a new one?
I would love that, but I get that it's development and that means something else in the pipeline has to give way.
TBH, that's only going to happen if WotC's D&D Beyond team thinks a mobile forum is going to lean into growth and engagement here.
I'd be excited to collaborate on prioritizing features for a more informative and engaging changelog. Integrating upcoming projects alongside current features would be tremendously valuable for the D&D Beyond community. Considering the strong presence of the forum (registered members and active users), opening its features within a forum app (and keeping it within the context and not turning it into a new social media platform) could significantly boost engagement and reach. This wouldn't come at the expense of existing functionalities, but rather enhance the overall user experience. I trust the D&D Beyond team's talent and dedication to finding creative solutions, especially through WOTC/hasbro resource pool, that they can improve both the forum and make a dedicated forum app.
I'd put a forum app waaaaaaay down the list of what this site needs. And I'm still not clear on why you even want one. "Streamlined/intuitive/smoother" are just vague buzzwords if you don't specify how.

The app search function does include an "Owned Content" filter 🤨It can even go a step further and limit its search to only sources you've downloaded to that device, or you can search within a specific source.
I would like it organized into the DDB app itself, myself -- I have like a half dozen or more tabs open on my tablet browsers, so adding DDB to it is a pain and a problem and honestly posting on them is a ***** even when I hook up my bT keyboard -- it is the formatting thing.
And I am not always at my Laptop -- especially in the next year.
So I totally get the idea of wanting such.
That said, the idea that Hasbro/WotC leadership *wouldn't* try to turn it into a social media space (with ads, no less) is kinda, um, not gonna happen. All it would take is a small group of investors to get wind and they'd have some twerp trying to make it a whole deal.
Especially if it stood alone -- the old "just a simple app" thing doesn't provide enough direct ROI, and they did just layoff folks because there "isn't enough revenue". Not to mention the whole "cannot access marketplace through app" thing.

Developing a dedicated app could offer optimized formatting, native mobile readability features, and easier navigation through forums and topics, mobile notifications on in-topic pings. It could also serve as a valuable platform for direct communication with users through polls, surveys, and changelog updates. For me, the text is millimeters big, that zoomed fully out, I can barely read, and landscape mode isn't functional for my device due to a center floating keyboard.
The list of stuff the site needs shouldn't stop us from asking for items, the beyond team should be using these requests to support basis to ask/demand more resources for their projects, if resources are even a problem, which nothing has been released to say otherwise. I'm all for the frequent requests being processed, and that the beyond team getting resources they need, hopefully, majority of the art team getting removed won't reflect productivity on the beyond teams side. With those members now being removed, does that now open up resources not previously available to the beyond team?

Closest thing I can think of is Taptalk, but has anyone had any luck with anything better?
Due to the mobile layout, high preference for an app. Thanks

Yes, something to use until they figure out a forum app.

Turn your phone sideways, zoom out your browser, and switch to desktop mode.
