So, I have a question that I haven't been able to find an answer for yet. I'm not looking to get into a shouting match about changes in editions and so forth. I'm curious how DDB will interface between 2014 rules and 2024 updates. I'm not sold one way or another on the 2024 updates. I'll probably pick up the MM simply for the updates to the CR ratings and hopefully better encounter building tools (though that will probably be the DMG). But if I just stick with 2014 rules, am I going to have issues within DDB creating characters, encounters, and overall campaigns? I know that everyone is saying it's compatible systems and that is fine when dealing with physical books. But if I go to create a character on DDB after the updated rules are out, am I going to experience gaps or will everything that I've purchased on DDB still be accessible? I have a master subscription for me and 2 heroic subscriptions that I have for my kids, I just want to make sure that what I've invested in DDB isn't going to be wasted once the 2024 updates really take effect.
I don't believe anyone at DDB has clarified how the new ruleset is going to affect the site yet. Right now we're all just kind of waiting to see what they do.
