Any word on this yet? Earlier in year it was said to be dropping Beta by end of year and we are already in November?
The beta started some time ago. Not everyone who signed up has received access yet, though. They have not said anything about whether more people will be given access or, if so, when that will be.
Are you sure you aren't confusing that with the Alpha version?
I think the Beta version is supposed to have more features than the Alpha version and it doesn't look like the current version has that many features.
This thread is talking about the Sigil VVT, not the D&D Maps that recently moved from Alpha to Beta.
As you stated in the "Winter is Coming" thread that you thought D&D lied to its users, and Project Sigil was not yet in testing, I am assuming that you are thinking of DDB Maps as it doesn't sound like you were one of the people invited to test Project Sigil.
Barglesniff, as others have stated, yes Project Sigil is already in testing and it looks great so far :) I can't wait for it to be rolled out to more testers so they can see it.
Cheers!

Breathe, dragons; sing of the First World, forged out of chaos and painted with beauty. Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Partnered, they woke in the darkness; partnered, they labored in acts of creation.
I signed up for this closed beta in October and still haven't gotten anything.
"Closed beta" means that not everyone who wants to participate will necessarily get access right away, or even at all. It appears that they're expanding it gradually.
Gonna correct some of the confusion I'm seeing in here:
Those of you who have signed up for the upcoming open beta are set; there's nothing more you need to do until you're notified that the open beta has actually started, which will likely come to you via email and announcements on our social media channels.
Project Sigil is currently in an NDA-ed closed alpha phase, which is why you're seeing people talking about using Sigil and... not much else. Because NDAs.
This looks to already be cleared up, but yes, D&D Beyond Maps entered beta toward the end of last year. DDB Maps is not Project Sigil. Hope that helps!

Why do you say that like I wasn't aware of that? I was talking about Sigil.

But it says "You're ready to go".
Regardless, I feel lied to.
I got access to the alpha version, but is there a beta that exist as of now?
I'm under the impression that alpha comes out first then followed by the beta version.
Project Sigil is most certainly still in Alpha. If it were in Beta it would be thrown out to a wider test audience.
And signing up to be an alpha tester is not a guarantee you will get an invite. It does seem as though they are rolling out the invites gradually.
Can anyone sign up for the closed beta?
The Project Sigil closed beta is currently available to players in North America only.
I was told it would come out in Fall 2024, but it's early Winter 2025 now, so they're obviously running late and not owning up to that blunder.
Even game studios usually announce when something was falling behind on schedule, but for some reason D&D Beyond/WoTC haven't even done that.
I've signed up for it, but have heard zero since then. Currently all we have is Maps.
I downloaded Sigil and ran the program. The music plays and the settings menu is there but nothing seems to work as all I have is black screen.
what was the code?
They're keyed to be account specific.
That said checked my inbox, had a code from the 9th waiting there. Irony.
it took a few min for mine to actually fully boot!
Oh man. More people getting access! The wait is killing me 😭

"which will likely come to you via email and announcements on our social media channels."
Except they haven't.
They had more than enough opportunity to tell us if there had been a delay from its intended Fall 2024 release, but they remained silent about it.
The only emails they gave us were advertisements and Maps updates.
