For an in person game, all you need is a character sheet and some dice. other useful things are a notebook and pencil, and a token to represent your character on a map.
A basic idea of your character's backstory can also be helpful, or at least try to think of how they would react to different situations. Are they fight first, sneaky, etc.
Your DM should have the encounters planned, NPCs etc
Make sure you have enough food and rope, food to eat and feed wild creatures, and rope to do everything else. If you need to tie your horses to a rock, you can, if you need to tie together a broken cart, you can, if you fall in a pit and can't climb up, use rope, if you can't get across the mountain, use rope, if you are on a breaking rope bridge, use rope, if your horse dies, use the rope to tie it to your party so you can drag it along with you and eat it along the way.
Rope is everything you will need.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
If you need a scout, like in a jungle or uncharted area, Owl is better, especially at night. If you need to see invisible creatures, like if you know the area is filled with Will'o'wisps or imps, bats are better.

Also, I was wondering what the effects are for wild magic and what you role to get them because I have glowing orbs surrounding me and my sister has that AND she grew cool wings.
Is there other things I need to begin with? Do you think that my dm will have an encounter?
Also, I turned you to be a mountain Dwarf Wizard so I can do spells and still be good with a weapon.

We do it in person. I ment its three anything else I need in the game.

Anything else? Besides rope? :)
Take the Find Familiar spell, familiars are almost as useful as rope.

I already chose that. Anything else?
What animal is your familiar? Choose owl or bat.
Chromatic orb is a great 1st level spell to hurt one target, Thunderwave is also very useful against multiple targets.

I have thunder wave. Why owl or bat?
Bats can see invisible creatures with echolocation (called blindsight), owls don't provoke opportunity attacks while flying.

Which one is better or are they equal?
It depends on the situation and needs. Everyone chooses owls, but I think bats are cool.

Thanks!
Also which situations and needs for each one?

Now I have butterfly wings. You have to roll a 15!
Where do you go to find out about familiars?
