I have purchased the core books, and the master tier sub.
I don't know if I am just missing this, or if the functionality isn't there, but I'm confused with regard to the interactions between characters and campaigns.
I see that if someone joins my campaign (via the shared link) it looks like they can create or use existing characters of theirs in the campaign.
And it looks like I can edit those.
But I don't see how as the owner/creator of the campaign I can assign or create PCs for that campaign.
I would expect to be able to create characters for players, and then assign them to the player as they join. Or at least be able to assign Characters to the campaign, for a DMPC for example. I don't see how this would be done.
Also, I would expect to be able to assign a different player as the DM of the campaign, but I think I read on the forums somewhere that this is either not the case or possibly coming at some point?
Do I simply mis-understand how this should all be done, or do I not get the way this is intended to be used? Is there a guide or tutorial?
Thanks for this, I'm super excited about DnDBeyond, and what it can do for my groups
Because this post is so close to a question I have, I thought I'd piggy-back a little. Is it not possible for a player to add two characters to a single campaign? If we have a player who cannot make it one night and one player wants to bring in another of his characters to fill a role, how is that done? My table is currently running PotA, and we're taking our time, allowing for homebrew side questing (not directly related to the campaign itself) just for fun. We all have multiple characters that live together and exist in the context of the adventure, so using different characters for the campaign is allowed. Not being able to add multiple characters to the campaign is a bit of a drag!
The campaign creator is the only one that can see and edit every character in that campaign. At this time you cannot assign characters to players (staff mentioned they'll look into that feature) or assign campaign duties to another person (also a great idea).
Players can create and add multiple characters to a campaign by clicking the campaign join link on the campaign page. Each time they click it they can add/create another character for the campaign.
Also as a piggyback, we are getting started for our first campaign. The person who is going to organize and DM this isn't probably going to do anything but use the free options but I like cool toys. So I purchased the $60 option and bought a couple of books for the groups access. But it appears I cannot pass the role of DM to my friend. Would I have to create a second account to do that and just let him use my login info?
Just let him create the campaign with his own account. If you have the Master Subscription tier you can share your books with a campaign whether you're a player or the DM.
If you don't have a master tier subscription, I cannot answer the question about account sharing.

Thanks for the info. As a feature request, I think there should be an option for a person other than the creator of the campaign to have access - for example, in one of my groups I'm not the DM, but I assist all the other players with their leveling up, etc. So in that situation, we would like 2 people to have access to all PC sheets. And of course having the ability to assign PCs to players and assign the role of DM to someone other than the creator are features I would love to see.
I'm not aware of of one, but do you know if Curse have a feature request voting system somewhere?

From what I see, I understand that: If I pay for the master tier, and, someone else is the DM, they can create a campain, and then they can see all the characters in the campain.
Then, can I also create a campain, and the same characters can also be part of my champain, just so I can help them build and maintain their characters, that are part of the other campain?

Got it, so on a free account he can create a campaign. Once I join, it will give him enhanced options.

A character cannot be part of two campaigns at the same time.
