WotC already said that they intend to make anything new editionwise backwards compatible, I’m pretty sure DDB will be able to keep up. Which everything they’re investing towards the future they will have to.
Totally disagree, sadly these guys and most people that are on YouTube 20 hours a day don’t know anything about running an actual real business. It’s much more likely that the makers of this game are going to release a new edition while sales are high, and while there is a demand. The more popular something becomes the more you charge for it...... It’s called capitalism
Actually, with d&d, they are correct. When the sales dip, that's when they start working on the next edition. Bringing out a new edition when the current one is selling so well would be counter productive. They aren't hurting for sales right now and they are still bringing out content that people are buying.

Exactly this with the slower release schedule they are using with 5th edition, they are not going to switch everyone off by going new edition. WotC has the highest popularity that it has ever had with 5th edition, you don't say screw you to that many customers when your still selling good. Almost every new book coming out is selling faster now compared to when 5th first arrived. That was even shown here on DDB with each new book getting more and more pre-orders then ever before and look at the amazon sell lists by genre top 15 out of like 20 are D&D 5th ed. Going to a new edition would be a major mistake so many would stay on 5th that by doing a 6th to soon would hurt the sales of that edition, while 5th edition players would stock up on 5th edition books as the prices on them drop as places want to get old stock out for the new shiny stock. Now while I am not a marketing wizard I was around when it went from 1st edition to 2nd I got a lot of books cheap then all 1st edition. hen when they went from 2nd to 3rd edition I bought up 2nd edition like crazy. I didn't do 3rd or 3.5 or even 4th. I started new again with 5th and liked where they are with the game and really like the slower release of books with this edition it cuts down on book glut which increases power creep. We are starting to see power creep as it is by looking at the subclasses being released now compared to Sword Coast Adventures Guide compared to Xanathars subclasses or Explores Guide to Wildmount. We as players want a little power creep but not so much that to even the game requires a new edition, so I hope they don't think we need a new edition as putting 1 out would be against the whole idea of 5th edition of slow steady releases trying to keep the game even for everyone while still providing a rule set that grants exciting play.
aside from 1e and 2e which belonged to another company entirely... Fact #1: the longest running edition of D&D from WotC has been 4e. the edition ran for 7 long years. (2008-2014) Fact #2: The 3rd edition lasted for 6 years. (2001-2007) Fact #3: 5e started in 2014 and has gone into its 5 year anniversary last year, going into its 6th year anniversary soon. or has it already past ? i think its already in its 6 year. Fact #4: 5e is the most appreciated edition up to this point and people are not yet willing to go for another edition. Fact #5: People are still requesting a lot of books for 5e to be made. Fact #6: WotC answered the demand by upping the number of books per year to 4 instead of 2, they did this 2 years ago. Fact #7: WotC answered the demand for more settings, by creating 5 new campaign settings to play in. Fact #8: The lead designers for rullings hasn't made any notice whatsoever about the printing of a new edition. heck he even said himself numerous times, even this year, that 6th edition was nowhere near a thing.
last but not least, probably the most important fact... Fact #9: WotC is about 2-3 years in front of us in developping books and editions... now put fact #8 and #9 together and you get a jeremy crawford telling you that they didn't even start on 6th edition yet, they are still working on books for 5th edition. and thats coming from people who are about 2 or 3 years in front of us players. so its clear to say that 6th edition will not happen until at least 3 years from now.
Those are hard facts !

that only prooves you didn't watch the video he showed... because they are saying exactly what you are saying. yet you say you disagree on them saying the very same thing as you ?!!
basically what this video says is the same as i said in my last post about facts. mike mearls said in 2018 in a tweet that 5e did the funding of 3e,3.5 and 4e in a year of what they did in their long lasting years. like 5e wrecked all 3 editions "TOGETHER" so why would they leave 5e if it sells that much. in that video they are saying the very same. they also invokke the actual articles the original poster talked about and how those articles make it seem like its coming soon but are very wrong in that assumption.

6th edition is not coming anytime soon. 5e is at the best it's ever been, and is increasing in popularity.
Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Spells, Monsters, Subclasses, Races, Arcknight Class, Occultist Class, World, Enigmatic Esoterica forms

There is a big jump from reading an article from somebody saying what they'd like to see in the 6th edition, to assuming they're releasing it soon.
Furthermore, the article is very bad, every point mentioned is just... wrong:
