In the circle of land subclass for druids, under the circle spells feature, it lists all the spells that druids gain from taking this subclass, and include a link to the spell itself. this way you can immediately access subclass specific spells without leaving the subclass tab. But I can't seem to do the same for homebrew subclasses. When you look at the circle of land subclass in the subclass creator, the spells look like this. [ spell ]hold person[ /spell ], [ spell ]spike growth[ /spell ] (Minus the spaces between the brackets because even here in the forum if I copy paste it without modification, it makes the link.) If you copy this and put it in a homebrew subclass, it still works perfectly, linking you to the spells. If you remove the spell name and replace it with a homebrew spell, it says tool tip not found, and will not work. Is there no way to link homebrew spells to a subclass? Because if that just isn't a feature of dnd beyond, that's a real shame. If it is possible, please let me know what I have to do to link a homebrew spell.
What you’re referring to is descriptive text and has nothing to do with actually attaching a spell to the subclass. Those are called “tooltips” and they do not work for homebrew. You can learn more about tooltips here:
That's great! I currently can't get it to work, but since other people on that thread say it still works, That likely has more to do with me being dumb than it not working. This is greatly appreciated, I'm sure I'll figure it out.
I'm on mac as well, so if that's the issue then, I'm not actually sure what to do lol. Worst case scenario I'll just leave a note in the subclass saying that the spells are homebrew, so you have to go to the spell tab to find them.
Yeah I'm aware of that, the details page is what I'm trying to modify.
If you don’t intend to publish it and only need it for yourself and your group you could use regular hyperlinks and they’ll even work on the character sheet too. Just make sure to set them to “new window.”

Actually linking a spell to a subclass is completely different, and involves a completely different process. You can learn more about that here:

That is helpful, it's a shame I can't make tooltips for homebrew spells, but I suppose I can't do much for that. Thank you for the clarifications.

Happy to help.
I can’t get it to work either, I think it’s because I’m on a Mac. 🤷♂️

Tooltips don’t usually work on a character sheet, only on the details page.
