I'm working on adding new subclasses to my games, but I am having touble having the system recognize segments of the description as damage. What I would like to do is something similar to the Storm's Fury trait of a sorcerer where i can deal damage equal to some value plus a modifier.
Would anyone know how to code for that? Know any resources I could look at to make it work. I know DnD Beyond runs on HTML formatting, but I'm not fluent in the language.

You don’t need HTML. If you have purchased XGtE, or at least the Storm Sorcerer subclass from that book, the easiest thing to do is make a homebrewed subclass based on that Sorcerer as a template just so you can dissect it to see how it works. Then you can replicate it for your own subclass.
