Basically, I just want to buy the one class, without the rest of the book. If I go into the book in the Markeplace section of the site, I see where I can buy the subclasses, but there isn't anywhere where it says I can buy the class itself. If I buy one or more of the subclasses, will I get the whole main class too? TL;DR: I want to buy the Artificer and its subclasses, but nothing else from the book. I'm afraid that if I just buy the subclasses, it won't come with the main class, and will thus be unusable. Safer to ask first, amirite?
There's never harm in asking, but in all books if you buy the subclass or subrace (for races like Gith that aren't from the PHB), the base class/race is automatically included. Any character-building option is automatically usable once purchased, there's never any gating that requires you to buy something else in order to use it.
Also, if you buy part of a book, however much you spend is automatically deducted from the cost of the whole book. Just in case there's something you feel like purchasing now and want to get the rest of the book later.

"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

Thanks! Appreciate your response. I had sort of assumed it worked like this, but wasn't sure, since I haven't actually bought anything else without getting the whole book before.
Honestly, I think the whole part of how they deduct the entire cost of what you'd already paid is really cool. Most services would only let you deduct part, if any at all.
Thanks again for the reply; I just wanted to avoid making a mistake lol. Appreciate it!
I bought the compendium and I still don’t know how it works like I can’t access the class when I am making a character is their an issue
if you bought the compendium contents only then you only get the book, not the features. An example would be if I bought the compendium for the PHB I can read it, but I cant use the subclasses in it without buying either the rest of it or the subclass itself.
