It keeps coming up as a thing that will be added in the nebulous "future." I've not heard any specific time table on it and it really makes for a weak point against those arguing that people can just homebrew copies of Official content if they don't feel like purchasing it because they already have it in book form elsewhere.

So stoked about this! Homebrew has a pretty strong presence in my campaign setting, so until this comes about, we can't make the switch (and we're all super eager to do so).

So we have homebrew suclasses but not homebrew classes?? What's up with that?
It's discussed during several of the & Beyond developer Q&A streams.
The short version is - adding homebrew classes at this point would be massively complex due to all the possible modifiers and components that would need to be available to be added.
Many of the more popular 5e homebrew classes have some form of unique resource management.
When the development team look at what features they are working on next, they are looking at which features will bring the greatest benefit to the largest number of users.
Does anyone know if this will be an option in the future?

It is currently planned to add the ability to homebrew races & subclasses (not full classes).

Any idea when this is going to be added? I've seen many homebrew subclasses that would be amazing for my character but I still can't add here.
It has moved from "planned" to "soon". How soon is still unknown but I would say we will have to wait for at least another few weeks.
