I have always had to reskin a panther to be able use a snow leopard. However when I asked my newest dm if I could do this, a fellow player pointed out to that snow leopard indeed have a stat line in D&D [REDACTED] listed snow leopard has having a stat line and was from tales of the yawning portal(page 183).
when I checked that book I couldn’t see a stat line at all for a snow leopard. So I am now even more confused.
Does a snow leopard have an official stat line or not?
I believes the Snow Leopard was intended to share the same statistics as the Tiger, but I do not recall where I read it. It very well may be Tales from the Yawning Portal, in which I suggest reading the fine print of its introduction in the anthology, or rereading the bestiary in the back. I am quite certain the Tiger statistics were intended for our dear friend, the Snow Leopard. Otherwise, Crag Cat is a good alternative. :)
Generally speaking the easiest thing to do if an animal from a broad family like “big cats” or “wild canines” isn’t specifically represented is to simply find the stats for the closest match in the family and use them.
Interesting, I went to see about the statblock on DDB, and they're not there. You can buy the individual adventures...but not the creature statblocks like you usually can.

Per the adventure, the DM is meant to use Tiger stats for the big cats.
15. Ice Cave
This is the den of two large snow leopards (use the tiger statistics), which serve as pets of the yetis in area 13. These creatures lair on a ledge above the floor of the cave, and they try to take intruders by surprise.
Not that this info is helpful to a person who asked this question 4 years ago.....
Having checked the book, they've reskinned the tiger statblock. Basically, you use the statblock of the tiger and just call it a snow leopard. When they bold the name, it means use that statblock (so snow leopard (tiger) means it's called a snow leopard, but you use the tiger statblock).

the snow leopard statblock is in the TftYP, (Tales from the Yawning Portal) page 183.
No, it's not. As explained (twice, Metamongoose ninja'd me), it tells you to use the tiger statblock and call it a snow leopard.

Oh, weird. i found it on a site with a statblock and it referenced yawning portal. I'm comparing the two statblocks now. Yup, the only difference is the picture of the animal.
Really, snow leopards should use Panther stats rather than Tiger stats.
Yea. Tiger is like ... a much, much larger animal. If they want a tiger in the snow, they should call it a snow tiger. Or a sabretooth, or something. Panther is still a big cat, but it's smaller than lions and tigers by rather a lot.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.

No, there’s no official statblock for a snow leopard or else it would be tooltipable

Use the tiger stats not the crag cat - it has a spell turning ability that a snow leopard shouldn’t have.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.

I wonder if in the adventure, if the leopard in question is a dire leopard. That would explain it's greater size and power.
