Do people watch over-the-top Hollywood action movies for something other than escapism? I mean, aside from film students or someone who has some kind of interest or passion for the craft itself? Or very young kids who are still sorting out fantasy from reality?

Some action movies can be honest fun, but most are fairly boring for me. Or ones where the special effects and martial arts/stunts are cool enough to warrant a watch. (Equilibrium springs to mind.)
