So, an adventure compilation for mystery adventures. That's . . . interesting. I can't say I saw that coming.
Here.
Huh neat. Hope there are at least some new class and race stuff, or maybe it’ll be like Volo’s. Although the adventures are great I personally just want more options in character creation.
It won't be like Volo's. It will most likely be closest to Tales from the Yawning Portal and Ghosts of Saltmarsh (preferably more like Ghosts of Saltmarsh).

Its going to be more like Tales from the Yawning Portal. How do I know this? Here's a quote from the front cover caption:
An anthology of seventeen mystery-themed adventures for the worlds greatest roleplaying game.
This means that it is a compendium, much in the vein of Tales from the Yawning Portal

Have you read Ghosts of Saltmarsh? It also is an anthology of adventures like Tales from the Yawning Portal. What I meant by "preferably more like Ghosts of Saltmarsh" was regarding the intro chapter and options at the end of the book.

I'm actually stoked for another adventure compendium. We need more published small 5e modules that we can port in and out of games, since mostly the adventures that get published are the big adventure modules. I was legit just saying that we needed another one.

Yup I agree, a few more one-shots is something I'm glad to see. It would be great if the book included some adventures in the other planes (elemental planes would be great) too.
I just hope there is actually new content in the book. Both Tales and Saltmarsh were reprints of adventures from past editions, or even just Dungeon magazine.
I get what you mean I got saltmarsh and was disappointed.
What an utter waste of resources. This is a definite pass for me. I'm all for making modules. Do it like they did in the old days, where each module was published and people could buy ones that fit their needs. I've never been happy with anthologies of adventures, especially when the quality is on par with old dragon magazine adventures. If you are publishing an actual hard back book then give us something big like a classic setting. Just sad.
I’ve passed on most of the adventure books so far (I have LMoP and RotFM and will likely pick up GoS at some point), but this one might be for me. I understand it’s a disappointment for some, but I like mysteries. It’s also more than likely not like we’re not getting a setting book, an options book or a monster book because of this release. It’s almost certainly an adventure book slot that gets filled - if you were hoping for something else, that’ll either still be released later in the year or it was never going to be part of the lineup. If you don’t want it, that’s fine. WotC isn’t looking for Xanathar or Tasha sales numbers from this, I’m sure.
which would be cool.* I'm guessing this might have some mysteries within Candlekeep and some mysteries where the adventurers may be working on behalf of Candlekeep. Also heard somewhere that Deborah Ann Woll is one of the contributors. If that's the case a look at her Relics and Reliquaries may give you a sense of the sort of theme/tone for at least her contribution to the book.
*Elminster's Candlekeep Companion does some great work consolidated the lore of Candlekeep for 5e, and has some gorgeous maps asking for a printed release ... the rest of it is a little uneven, the subclasses offered are a bit meh though try to stick to the Candlekeep theme ... there's some magic some of it fits thematically with the book but there's all these items of "time magic" especially weapons that don't seem to make sense organically with the rest of the work. There's also a "Director's Cut" that was apparently in some draft of DiA, whose best elements largely get worked into in other parts of the published adventure (that sections was what most interested me in the book, until I actually read it). What I'm saying is if they repackage the maps and Candlekeep setting fluff as a framework for this book, or an appendix, I'd say I'd be more likely to go for it that the ~$15 title currently sitting in DMsGuild.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
I would suspect they will take place in and around Candlekeep given that is an existing location and there have been adventures from past editions that have used the location. Which makes me think this will be just like Saltmarsh and Tales, and just be a reprint of old adventures converted to 5e.
I think all over. Not even necessarily all being in the same world.
I imagine there will be some part or parts focused on Candlekeep. I mean, its libraries and tunnels are reputed to be filled with mysteries, and a lot of talkers for investigators to interview. It could also be pretty far flung. Candlekeep is a seat of knowledge for the entire continent and I'm sure it's investigators have been tasked to corroborate stories. The best into Candlekeep is to present a book it doesn't yet possess, so I imagine there'll be a book hunt or several, probably also some stories drawing on the various magic books in 5e, and maybe some new ones. I think Third's right in that extraplanar travels or trips to other worlds within the Prime Material on behalf of Candlekeep may be in order as well.
I'm not disappointed because it wasn't what I was expecting. I"m curious, and mystery genre informed play is one of those areas 5e could use some growth in. I do question WotC's publishing adventures - which are for the most part one use products - in the same format as the sourcebooks that a game group will be using over a long time. Not sure if I'll be pre-ordering, more likely pick up on D&D Beyond, it'd be awesome if you could buy these adventures a la carte. I may be curious what writer X writes but not so much writer Y, so DDB devs, nudge.
I've been assuming that the framing device is that these are all mystery books that can be found at Candlekeep, like the Mystery section at a library, so they can be about anything and set anywhere.
Also remember people that adventure modules are typically not written by the same designers as content modules. Just like Wildemount, I doubt this has taken up all of their development time if you’re still itching for more content.

I admit that comes close to the least interesting option possible. I will probably purchase but I've gotten much more interesting 3rd party books.

Want to start playing but don't have anyone to play with? You can try these options: [link].
I wonder if this might salvage/reprint the good setting/lore from this:

Do you think the adventures in Candlekeep Mysteries will be spread across the Forgotten Realms, or towards one area?

Then we might go to Ravenloft. A Gothic Horror Mystery sounds great.
