Well, they are supposed to be officially announcing tomorrow. Any last guesses?
They've managed to keep the leaks in this time (so far, that is). Last year, almost every release was leaked through Amazon or some other source quite awhile before Wizards was planning on announcing it. I'm not sure if that's a positive or negative thing.
I'm sticking to my guess. I think it's a Volo's style monster book themed around Dragons. If it isn't coming out in this release, hopefully it will in a later one. My second guess for this slot is a Ravenloft campaign setting or adventure compilation.

And to complicate the speculation. Tony DiTerlizzi, the original planescape artist, last spring and summer was tweeting about doing work for WotC. Doesn’t mean it was planescape art, of course.
I think that we will be getting Planescape in the relatively near future, but not for this release. That would have to be a later release, Planescape is too important to come out at the beginning of the year.
(I heard that he also released on Twitter some art for Planescape he was drawing. He didn't say that it was for WotC or anything, but it could point to it for a later release.)
We just had Tasha. There was never going to be a big sourcebook with a bunch of player options this soon. It was always going to be a campaign setting or adventure.
So, an adventure compilation for mystery adventures. That's . . . interesting. I can't say I saw that coming.
Well that sucks. Because it was leaked and because I was hoping for a campaign setting or source book.
Yeah. I mean, I'm probably going to buy it to see what I can take from it and what info of Candlekeep I can use, but it's much less exciting than a Draconomicon or Ravenloft setting.
(I had guessed that an Adventure anthology would be coming out this year, but I didn't guess that it would be in Candlekeep. I did see someone guess that it would be a Candlekeep Adventure Anthology somewhere, so I'm going to have to find them and ask them how they predicted the future.)

We had two UA with 2 subclasses each towards the end of last year. Sure, we weren't going to get Xanathar's 3.0 this early, but most of us (from what I've seen) have been hoping for some of the character options from those UA.

It might be like TFtYP, where the YP not only was never featured, but also is situated near no good locations for any of the adventures in the book.

To TftYP's credit, it did give a bit of info on the environment of the Yawning Portal, but admittedly it was very, very lacking. Ghosts of Saltmarsh had a much better intro chapter to its setting, which is what I'm hoping this book will do.
Also, this book has 17 adventures. That's a ton. I'm guessing they're pretty short, as both GoS and TftYP only had 7 adventures each.

I too hope it will be more Ghosts and less Portal. I really liked the Ghosts and hope there will be more "thematic adventures" style books (like nautical/desert/jungle/...)
Honestly, I was hoping for a campaign setting. While yes, you can make your own setting, it's nice to have some inspiration. Also, more races and subclasses are an added bonus. This book does seem better then the usual adventure book. At least it gives a different type of adventure.
If it has 17 adventures some will probably be badly written and that's okay. Thankfully it has 17 adventures. So, some has to be good, right?
A new dragon lance novel is likely out in July (Amazon has a place holder for it on July 29) so it would probably make more sense for DL game-related hardcover to release closer to that — maybe in August to really blow it up for gen con.
And to complicate the speculation. Tony DiTerlizzi, the original planescape artist, last spring and summer was tweeting about doing work for WotC. Doesn’t mean it was planescape art, of course.
Dragonlance 100%, WoTC recently won a legal battle against the creators, DL novel leak, accidental dragonlance leak by joe Magdolano, dragon-themed UA subclasses, there's no question.

There is no question because the title was leaked. Mysteries of Candlekeep.

It definitely sucks. That's a huge letdown. There are tons of forgotten realms books already. Just adding another one is distasteful in my opinion. I get WoTC making a mystery book, though. I was very excited about 5e dragonlance too...
Did it get announced?

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:

I think he said it was for M:tG.

And. . . there was just a leak. I shouldn't have said anything 🤣

"Anthology" is probably a better word than "Compilation." The latter implies they've existed before and are only now being collected.
Anthology implies the same thing.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
